Marchesini project.

Hey everyone, I've got a new project for the bike. I'm going to be fitting a set of Marchesini magnesium wheels to my 750 track bike. I thought this would be a good thread since we all drool over those fancy aftermarket wheels, but know finding a set made for our bikes is nearly impossible. Except f...

shock

Since it's a fairly new bike, you could go the route of valveing and a spring. Just the spring would probably be a good start, and it's pretty cheap, compared to a shock. And if you buy a used racing shock off of ebay, or another place, you'll end up having it rebuilt and resprung to your weight any...

get well soon!

So, what's the prognosis? I'm still recovering from my little fiasco from non-working brakes. I'm worried about my front end also. Seems like nothing is wrong, but I hit this hole, and pile of dirt beyond it, so hard, my collar bone was shattered by the fairing stay when I was compressed into it. Th...

Breakers

I've found that you want to stay away from breakers as much as possible. Their business attracts a lot of thieves. Both ends of the sales. And they start acting like the thieves themselves. I was at a local place that I've been to for years. And when I was leaving, They asked me to empty my pockets,...

pretty new hh pads on there. Lots of pad left. Maybe 100 hard miles on them. Thinking master and brake fluid. My bottle is a few years old. Typing really sucks right now!!!!!! Trying to wean off the pills. Calipers? Thinking whole new set-up for the brakes. Finally got the flatslides really going, l...

Brake Failure

Can't figure out problem with brakes. Everything looks good. New fluid, new pads, feels strong. Master cylinder? Old calipers? Old lines? They would work fine until you got to where you were really pulling at a good clip. Then they would feel like they would start to bite down like normal, but as yo...

Got an 86%. And I also had a hard time with the circuits, and I build guitar amplifiers from circuit diagrams! I guess The diagrams I'm used to looking at are for different applications. And a lot older....

tracking

+1 on a twist of the wrist. Really good book about the philosophy of going fast. A lot of different racers don't agree with some of the points in it, but they all agree that it puts you in the correct state of mind. Gear: There is no substitute for the good stuff. I go a little cheap on the helmets....

straights

The straight at miller, when I was there, was over a kilometer, and the track was 4.5 miles long. I don't know what a gp bike would do on it, but it seemed like my cbr was floating along for a while getting from one end to the other. It's brand new, and supposed to be a GP level course. The races I'...

tires

I like the plain pilot powers a lot. Mostly for street, but a lot of track time on them also. Amazing amount of miles for a HP tire! The 2ct's are supposed to be great, also!. I've liked the dunlop qualifiers quite a bit on the yzf750. I don't think you'll go wrong with any high level tires, micheli...

The tail section is hand made-welded sheet-metal . Really well done. It's just sitting on the frame(I'm trying to figure out how to reupholster the seat part). It fits nice and tight.

Couldn't resist this old monster! Twitchy little thing. Lots of go fast goodies on it. TZR rods, etc.

chain breaker

I bought a motion pro chain breaker, and it broke the first time I used it! Now I just gring the rivets off till both are clean and smooth- maybe a little extra. Stick a screwdriver in between and pop the outer plate off. Takes no time at all. Chain breakers and pins are a waste of money. A good riv...

fcr's

There was some debris(black rubber fuel line bits). But the real culprit was the float needle wire wasn't on the metal float tab-correctly. Now they are running pretty good on the bike. Finally got it warmed up when they are on. A local shop just happened to have a set of fcr airbox adapters that th...

So far so good. Decided to guve them a trial fitting. No return cable on throttle, wrapped pull cable around and it worked- just for trials. The jets are as follows Main 162all, pilot 80, main air 200, pilot air 100. Seems the main jet is huge. Just velocity stacks 35mm, and after cleaning pilot jet...

FCR's

Picked up a set of FCR 39'sfor the '98yzf750. The bike is strictly a track day toy. Need to work on the impulse control a little bit. Have a few questions. When I bought the '98, the carbs were pretty mucked up. Got them all cleaned up, but the emulsion tubes were on the outs. The bike runs pretty g...

I bought a pitbull($70) and a kwik lift($50) off of craigslist. Good place to look for used. If it is a good stand, used doesn't matter.
