Re: Back from limbo

Thanks everyone. Will defo post some pics Kiwi, but I was lazy with the camera this last week, so won't be so much to show you. Did take more photos 4 years ago when I did the bulk of the work, so I've gotta dig through my photo albums to put together a decent report. Will get to it once the bike is...

Back from limbo

A couple of years ago a student asked me if I rode a motorbike and I told him I was an ex-biker. He said, "No such thing, your a non-practicing biker" and, well, he was right and here I am. Spent the last week's holiday rebuilding the old EXUP: Seriously cut down fairing (both side panels and windsh...

What a nice post!
Hello all!!!

My garage is hovering around the 0ºC mark, the roads too, and I broke my meniscus about a month ago. No biggy. I'm not complaining. Just the excuse I needed to stay upstairs where it's warm and snuggle with the Mrs. drinking wine!

HAPPY XMAS everyone!

You're just going to have to look for a different twist grip and go for one with a greater leverage/ longer pull. That, or try finding some lighter springs. Iff you're using a two cable throttle the spring shouldn't need to be that stiff (as you're closing the throttle with the return cable), Differ...

I bought some Yoshimura rearsets for the FZR and they were off a CBR. Can't remember which one now though. The only thing I had to modify was the end of the brake piston as the forked one off the FZR wouldn't line up. I ended up cutting the two 'fork' prongs off the threaded collar, then I welded on...

Dude ... Have you been to see a chiropractor (sp)? My ex-wife has scoliosis and would be bed ridden for weeks at a time. A Texan bone cruncher who lives here sorted her out and off anti-inflamatories for the first time in decades. It's lasted too, something like 7 years without any further probs or...

Dude... I thought your problems were leg based! Ouch, good luck with the neck. Is there any progress/impreovement or is this going to be permanent? Got the Spondon back together today. New fuel lines Removed the in-line filter just in case. Checked all connections. All good. Re-soldered the connecto...

Deserved smileys there. I know! Sorry!!! More than a month without approaching a motorbike, or EXUPBroHood as I've been in the Alpes with the DH mountain bike (Morzine) with my mates riding the bikeparks there in filthy weather (it rained every single day) followed by two weeks in a stone house in t...

Cheers guys, My first thought was the breather.. so I tried with the gas tap open for a few kilometres and it made no difference. I'll try my finger over the end of the fuel line, but if it ticks until it winds down/stops (which is does) that means it's fully pressurising the carbs. Does the pump wo...

Fuel starvation

I ran out of petrol about three weeks ago, with the tank full. On a hunch, I toggled the on/off switch a few times and the fuel pump didn't make its usual tic-tic-tic noise so I swapped it out and everything was back to normal and fine until yesterday when it did it again. I was 20km from hom...

Hey Big Jon,

I'm confused. I looked on eBay at L/H switchgear for the YZF1000 and non of them have a choke lever.

Is that a US thing?

Thanks Thom, No, it's a '90 FZR1000 (or it was when I started). I hadn't considered wiring for flashers seperately, and it's not a half bad idea (I mean it's a good one)!!! :) I haven't made much progress in the last year, due to laziness, injury, my girlfriend, illness and and kids, basically in th...

Yeah cheers Jon,

The Ace has a bar mounted choke lever?
I didn't know.
ARSE!!!
Anyway, I've got the Suzi unit now and it's perdy so I wondered if i could by-pass the switched earth somehow.

If not, I'll look for an Ace unit.
Cheers
John
