Ceramics

Thanx for the top feedback my friends, just how much is the ceramic coating? I need to work out the ratio of £/bhp. Plus I also realize that it's usually the prep work getting the pipes ready for coating that can be expensive. I've use ultra high temperature paint before on my existing pipes but it ...

Try revving it out in the dark and look for sparks round the HT leads. (but not while you're ridin it Barney)

Re: plugging tyres

I ALWAYS put Ultra seal in new tyres never had a puncture since it's about £25 for three tyres worth and is supposed to distribute the tyre heat evenly to stop the tyre disintigrating over time by running too hot. I recommend it cos it's risky enough out there anyway and it's nice to know that those...

Mileage

Cheers Chip
I was reckoning around 25,000 you are right about the valves I had them re-shimed last year and the mechanic reckoned I'd timed it just about right and the top end was in exellent condition. I was concerned about timing chain wear but he said it was fine, so maybe it had been changed...

Trying to suss my mileage

Hi brothers
Just fit some new front wheel bearings to my 89 exup. It has never had the original speedo in the 5 years that I've owned it so I've no idea how many miles it's done. But I thuoght presuming the old bearings where the original ones and have only just worn out, if they have a typical l...

Clutch Bleeding

Hi brothers
An old boy told me this one a few years ago and it works a treat for bleeding exup clutches.
Firstly, remove the master cylinder cover, drain the clutch fluid through the nipple. Then fit a long pipe to the bleed nipple long enough to go above the master cylinder. Attach this end t...

Oil Burning

Hi guys , thanks for all the input. The bike uses about a litre every 2000 miles, Cruising down the motorway 80 to 100 mph seems to use more oil than scratching down country roads etc. She's always (last 5 years) used about the same amount so I can live with it for now, until something more serious ...

Jets

Swapped the plugs, the old ones where a healthy colour so I reckon the jets must be OK, but I got a guy to re-shim the valves about 5k miles ago and he fitted the plugs and they where too wider gap. I ground back the negative electrode a bit on the new plugs as recommended by Chuck D (cheers Chuck) ...
