rough running EXUP
Hi Fastman,

In answer to your queries, the new NGKs come complete with straight HT caps which fit onto the EXUP's plugs no problem - you don't need to get angled HT caps. Also, the new NGK leads are all just a bit longer than the longest OEM lead that the EXUP uses (phew!!). I bought four and...

'89 EXUP Headlight relays
Hi NBot,

yeah, that's right, I was referring to the info in that thread. I have just noticed that there is a link to a wiring diagram for adding relays to an FJ. I think I'll give it a go and let the 'Hood know how I got on.....or not!!!<img src=http://www.ezbo...

Running Rough
Hi Fastman,

I know this is a little bit different from the other replies to this thread who all seem to mention carbs but I experienced the same thing on my '89 EXUP. It used to get really rough and then would eventually run on just three cylinders. When I bought new plugs - hey presto, it wo...

'89 EXUP Headlight Relays
Can anyone offer some advice please!
Since I have owned my 89 EXUP (13 years), I have always thought the headlights as being pretty sh#t for a twin lamp set-up! First, I binned the 35/35W OEM bulbs for some lovely 100/80s. OOOOps! I fried one of the main wiring connectors under the tank and surp...

Mirror Replacement
Hi Guys,

an alternative suggestion are the mirrors that come off a BMW R1100 or is it the R1150?? It's the BMW that they race in the Boxer trophy series. They are very long (size is important), look quite modern as the stem is a sort of double-bar alloy casting and they hinge about 1/3rd dist...

Crickey, I've only just found out how to use this web site and now you've almost gone and told me how to hack into the Pentagon's computer ne...

Re: EXUIP handlebar conversion
Hi Guys,

I know that you EXUP purists will cringe into your cornflakes so please look away!! I have just put the finishing touches to "old-man-ising" my beautiful 89 EXUP! Recently installed was a Corbin seat (Gunfighter & Lady model) and I managed to get the very helpful people at MRA to do ...

EXUP Handlebar Conversion
Hi Tony,
I've just dug out the receipts for my conversion kit which I bought at a bike fair here in Munich at the end of 2002. There are a couple of extras that I added on such as anodised handlebar weights and a pair of mirrors but the total bill (including all the brake-lines, handlebars, repla...

Exup handlebar conversion
Hi Mike, sorry for the delay in answering your email! The kit includes everything you need - even mirrors but they're crap!! However, you will need a hacksaw and smooth files to cut the fairing. You do not have to mod the screen as the kit includes a specially cut one (made by MRA and available in d...

Hi folks,
this may illicit a groan from 90% of you but the other 10% will thank me!! When adjusting the chain tension on an EXUP, the bike must be stood on the ground under its own weight. I (wrongly) used to check my chain tension with the bike on a paddock stand because I thought that was how i...

1989 EXUP firing problems
Thanks for the tips flyingcircus68! I took the plugs out and it was number 3 that was duff. I replaced all 4 with the new NGK iridium plugs (expensive!!) and also all 4 leads with NGK Racing silicone leads which have a long straight HT cap fixed to them as standard. The result = perfection!! Now, wh...

1989 EXUP firing problems
Can anyone help, please?
I have a standard 1989 EXUP which has done about 35,000 miles and I have owned it for 13 years. Two months ago, I started the bike (which is kept covered in a dry shed) from cold and, even after the choke was pushed in, it only ran on 3 cylinders. I drove 10 miles to work...

FZR 1000 Gel battery
To LC130 LOAD1, please could you let me know what model no. the Gel battery was that you fitted and did you have to mod any of the wiring (i.e. swop the red and black main wires over from one side to the other to meet up with the new battery terminals) or the battery compartment? Thanks

EXUP Handlebar Conversion
Due to my age (45!!), I decided to convert the handlebars on my '89 FZR1000 EXUP to a more sensible riding position set-up! I bought an LSL superbike conversion kit for my bike and fitted it over the winter months. The difference is fantastic! Riding is much more comfortable with no neck / back ache...
