You can get the head and barrels off with the engine in the bike but it is a pain in the A**, the part you have undone is the cam carrier and will NOT come off without removing all the valves and springs. To get the head and barrels off you will have to undo and remove all the engine mounting bolts ...

Good articals but there are more on the subject, the front cover of the magazine I mentioned had a YZF750 and a FZR750 on the front cover both wheelying next to each other and I think the riders were touching crash helmets whilst on the back wheel. The YZF had a 1000cc conversion and the FZR had the...

The 911cc conversion on the FZ750 is what got me thinking along these lines for the YZF 750. I do not know what the difference in crown height is between the YZF750 and FZR1000 engines as this would also come into the equation. If there is a 10mm stroke difference and IF the crown heights are close ...

Trigonometry is pretty meaningless for every day life, I remember my maths teacher trying to get it to sink in without much luck. I then get a job as a toolmaker making injection mould tools and end up using trig or Pythagoras nearly every day for the last 22 years, it is etched into my brain now fo...

Almost there, but something went wrong at the last minute. You need to tick the inv box then click the sine button once and don't click = I got 1.449 degrees at the cam giving 0.7247 degrees at the crank. The real experts like Chuck D and Dragracer 1951 will be able to tell you more on weather this ...

I timed my cams in using info from this site, figs are for a turbo bike but it is a good explanation and I printed this lot out so I could refer back to it whilst timing the cams.

When I checked my CR with the 1040 kit it was 13:1 after a light head skim which seems a bit high so would be worth checking with the smaller combustion chambers in the 750 head. What I did (rightly or wrongly) was to get the engine up on a workbench, set it at TDC and fill no1 cylinder to the botto...

If I were doing it I would leave the 1000 block a little tall to compensate for the increase in CR, the stock head gasket is no good with the 1040 pistons as it overhangs the bores and would cause problems. You will need a cometic or similar head gasket with the bigger dia bore size. To complicate t...

If anyone knows how far back the article was in PB or superbike, I might ba able to help. I've many pB and every copy of Superbike from the last 12 years. Just give me a clue and I'll scan the article :D I've too much beer since reading the artical to remember, but it is at least 5 years ago (proba...

The artical was in a UK mag either "Performance Bikes" or "Superbike" if my memory serves correct and it had a picture of the FZR911 and another bike doing a wheely on the front cover, it was a long time ago though so finding one might be a problem unless a UK brother has a copy to scan ? Condition ...

Well I went ahead and ordered my 6 mm long hex bit. Damn I wish they told me it would take a week to get it before they had my money! I figure I will clean up the head some when it's off. Carbon deposits, grind the ridges between the rubber connectors and intake manifolds, and again between manifol...
