2006 Motorcycles

The new 2006 motorcycles are coming out. I have not seen the complete lineup yet but Kawasaki has a new Ninja ZX-14. I'm not sure what I think about the styling ... it's no R1 LE. Reminds me of a cross between a Hayabusa, Katana, and a Thunderace. But a 1352cc sportbike is intriguing. http://www.sup...

$18K or $38.9K

The 2006 Yamaha R1 LE is priced at $18K (only 500 being sold in the U.S.A.). So if you don't get your order submitted in time to get one of the R1 LE models you can double up your bank account and buy a Jamie James Production R1 for $38.9K http://www.motorcycledaily.com/04october05_ultimateroadbike....

FZR1000 Oil Usage Theory

My FZR1000 (1994 with 24.5K miles) seemed to need small amounts of oil added to it to keep it at the full mark in the sight glass. It was not consistent usage and didn't seem to follow any specific pattern. Lately it has not needed any oil added to it. The oil is suppose to be checked with the bike ...

Re: dogbonies

Pon,
162mm should do it for you. That's 3mm shorter than the stock 165mm. I ended up with 161.5mm (3.5mm shorter). My weight is 165-170 lbs, 5'8", 120/70, 180/55 Dunlop D208. Considering the weight difference, 3mm for you should be equivalent to 3.5mm for me. I tried 2.5mm and the balance point o...

Re: Finally got pulled over

Fortunately I have not been pulled over on the bike. I have received speeding tickets in the cars but not on the bike (at least in the car I'm only going 15 MPH over the speed limit). I have had some close calls on the bike but the bike is easier to drop the speed quickly; plus it's a smaller radar ...

Mike,
I don't believe the synthetics are making the clutch slip but rather the friction modifiers that have been added. Yamaha Lube oils have synthetics in them (semi-synthetic rather than full synthetic) but they do not have any friction modifiers. Look on the synthetic label to see if it says a...
