Great report Jason and congrats on resuts. :)

It is hard sometimes to remember it is about having fun. Multiple bikes can be a curse. I have to decide what I am doing next year as well. (see separate race report)

Thanks guys. It is a 6 speed 1040 engine made up of various bits. I think the bottom end is FZR. (Different to all of my YZF engines) I have had a few people look at it now and the general agreement is a bearing low down in bottom centre of engine. Maybe starter clutch. Going to bite the bullet and ...

Thanks guys. Last time I had a crack a this I removed alternator and changed starter and water pump. I just have the engine bolted into a spare frame at the moment so bump starting would require some work. :)

I'll have another tinker with it tonight.

Was the noise the chirping or the studdering?
:) The whining. Most noticable towards the end when the revs die down
Sounds like the starter motor is not disengaging
Hmmm..not sure how you would prove that ?

Secret Sound

I posted a while back about a noise coming from one of my engines that has me beat. I have recorded it as I didn't explain it very well. The only way I could figure out how to post it was to make a movie and stick the sound file in it. If you click on the pic below it should play a movie on photobuc...

I'll just go measure that piece of string. :) With my considerable 18 months of experience I have come up with the following - medium rear, soft front :) Up until last meeting I ran medium/medium. This was based on the exact science of what was available at the time. In the pre modern class I have s...

Did you have the WP fitted up?
Nah I ran out of time. That's the funny thing, the only change I made was jacking the back up by about 4mm.

Obviously I just hadn't been riding it properly before :)

You don't have to start with the clutch all the way in. Don't you hold it a fraction off where it engages Yeah that is what I normally do and I hook the front brake with one finger so it doesn't creep. Something was just not right. All good though. The boys I was running with were the ones that kic...
