Where was this Hotcam, PI?? I always liked that particular FZR paint scheme, did they even release that here or is it an import / imported bodywork?

Maybe all us Melbourne FZR/YZF/FZR/OW owners should get out on a forum track day together sometime???

I'd have to agree that the Bridgestone's do seem to need plenty of heat to work properly. What sort of conditions have you been on them in??

Jon,

Yeah, especially if the track is drying a bit it is said you should run wets higher too so they don't get shredded quite so badly/quickly. But what I believe you shoud do is soften the suspension a bit in the wet.

Someone else from Edmonton, yey!

Who's owned what??

Kiwi60 listed some old Suzuki's he owned which got me thinking, who's owned what bikes over the years??? I didn't want to hijack that thread so I'll start a new one. I have to cast my mind back but I think I've owned, in rough order: Yamaha TY80 Suzuki TS100 Honda CR80RB Yamaha YZ125G Yamaha XT200 2...

Well Steve, let's revisit this post at the end of the year and see what happened!! BTW Mick's is an 87 not 89 - and I hear there is also a guy joining PCRA this year who has an 87 ex Superbike with all the right kit and in his day was nipping at the heels of the top guys, he was at the One Hour chec...

Steve, quite right!! Kiwi the other thing I have some trouble with is tyre pressures - more about how much "cold" pressures vary, for example if its 10 degrees then you are going to get a different reading than if its 30, naturally enough. So when manufacturers or bike shops or whoever talk about co...

I should clarify too - when I say almost anything should be ok, I don't mean road touring tyres for example!! just that all true sports/race tyres are now so good that any of them will be more than adequate. The treaded versions such as Pilots etc offer something slicks may not, which is they potent...

Kiwi, I'm direct Scottish, arrived in '81 and you'll love this - in 2008 I did the whole season on a secondhand Michelin rear that cost me $50, it's now on my FZR to do a track day on! Admittedly it was on a VFR which didn't exactly rip the pavement up and the FZR should finish it off, but you can g...

Yeah, same here - I can potentially do the Hartwell series, Interclub series and Vic titles, running two bikes in each!! Might be biting off more than I can chew!

Brilliant. Might see you there, not sure if I'll get along to the Barry Sheene next year. Might even have my own one on the track by then.

Well done Michael, having lined up on the same grid as this bike I can tell you it is a rocketship. In fact it's probably the quickest Pre Modern bike in a straight line running in NSW the past year. I'll never forget Butler pulling a monster, involuntary wheelstand off the grid at EC during the Bar...

Steve,

Having ridden at Broadford for the first time today, I have to tell you, it's worth the drive down! Mad little place. Your bike should wheelie nicely in 3rd or 4th over the crest on the back straight.

Steve, I've only ridden mine on the road so its a limited comparison, but certainly the EXUP has a lot more midrange as you'd expect - in fact I'd say the VFR feels like it has more midrange than Mick's 1000, even though it probably hasn't. The basic chassis dynamics felt similar, as did the layout ...

Steve,

Well done indeed, bugger about the elec problem.

I'm happy to say I rode an FZR1000 in anger for the first time at Wakefield (Mick's bike not mine) Man does it have some top end!!
