Re: Satellite Flybys
The Leonid showers are much more pleasant to watch while laying in the backyard with a beer in hand, but I'll still be checking out some falling rocks in the next little bit, I'll just have to bundle up more and take a break from making ice.

Re: HeatedGrips??
Not trying to pick a fight, but even the link you have there has in its description, Not for use with aluminum, and bars must be hollow from one side through to the other. Yes they make very nice stuff, but I'll go with the under grip style that get hot enough to give blisters on high, and OK fine, ...

Re: HeatedGrips??
Are you referring to the internal ones that say NOT to be used with aluminum and only to be used with handlebars open at either end? I think those are meant for metric cruisers and are not compatible with most sportbikes or some standards. Hence the undergrip style usually used on sportbikes.

Re: New, 10 yrs, 20 yrs
How about a new old stock FZ1 for just under the ten mark, shipping may add too much however! An R1 doesn't fit me, so I wouldn't go that way myself, the yzf750 handled great but I'd miss the power and never really got on with the looks. I think I would end up looking for something comfy like ...

Great write up, and I feel for you. That's the reason I never go on a trip or on the track without a shakedown run first. I know time isn't always on your side, but the alternative can be too frustrating for my short temper. Glad you have more patience than me!

Re: PORSCHE GT3 RS vs YAMAHA YZF 1000 R1
That's always fun to watch, but trust me, there's more to it than just plowing a track and going at it! I can however state, that I have been passed by Schwantz. It was kinda embarrassing when he said about the Num Bum, that normally the only ice he ever sees is in his drinks, and then he proc...

Re: AWESOME DISPLAY!!!!
One of my grandfathers good friends was a Mosquito pilot in the war, and he gave me a poster schematic of the Mk IV. Amazing plane. Merlin 21 engines on a smaller plane like that were overkill, but the stealth nature of it's construction, and it's combined payload and speed capacity allowed it to pe...

Re: Engine Building
+1  Good gear, get the suspension sorted, get decent rubber, and ride. After you're pestering the guys in the fast groups for a while, maybe look at engine work, or just go race as is and have fun with that. Your budget is your choice. My race budget was around $500 per year not including f...

Re: Engine Building
Not racing? Just a track mule? Find a used older race machine for between $1000 and $2000 and flog the crap outta it. Otherwise I wouldn't worry about any engine work unless gridding was involved. Save the money and buy a set of Pirelli Red Stripes, and get the suspension set up for you. After a cou...

Yzf 600 second gear parts no longer available from yammie? That may not be the case in all markets, as long as you're referring to the thundercat. It was sold in the US until 2007. That's all I can offer on this subject.

Thanks, like I said, good photog! Feeling pretty good. Surgery did wonders, bolting the collarbone back together was a godsend. Surgery Friday, home Saturday, out to a multicultural festival Sunday. The big concern on the doctors part was the shoulder blade (doesn't hurt unless I'm leaning on the ba...

Re: EMRA Round 1 May 27
Not Craig, he hasn't been out to the track longer than you, so more than 5 years? I wouldn't hound you about the track (and I never said I wasn't going back) if you weren't building a track weapon in a province with nothing but straight roads. I never said you should race it. That's what I'm retirin...

Bought some pics from a photog that does some great work at the track. If he can make me look fast then he Must be good, now if only he could make me look slimmer... These are all from the first 2 rounds of the season, as it was the first race of round three that killed my new helmet  (sniff) h...

Re: Back on track.
Good yo see you back out there and in the thick of it, one strange sounding piece of advice that changed the way I ride, both on track and the street: "Steer with your chin". Relax your neck and exaggerate how far you're looking around the corner. The rest of you and your bike will follow. But most ...

I can understand moving to a smaller company thinking changes would come faster, too bad it never happened. I don't wish ducati bad luck, but I'm interested to see what kinda magic he may be able to find with Yamaha.
