Got this link from another board. I had never given this much thought, but would be helpful in the event of a wreck. They don't cost anything (can get 1 free per month) and could help save your hide. Of course it's something we hope never needs to be used...All it is is a small info sheet you fill out with your medical history/info that goes in a little pouch you can attach to your helmet. <a href="http://www.cyclegadgets.com/Products/pr ... ?Item=MICS" target="top">www.cyclegadgets.com/Products/product.a ... Now that's slick. I think something like that would be a great place to put a 'don't remove this helmet' and a 'contact' in along with a brief medical history if you have any allergies or medical issues. I like to ride agressively. I live in fear of getting in a bad wreck and not dying. Of having some well meaning EMS person take off my helmet and leave me a damaged Superman....... Pardon my french but f that. I'd rather die doing what I enjoy best than survive for years afterward and never get to ride again. I recently saw an article on how to do proper first aid for a downed biker. One of the first things was DO NOT REMOVE THE HELMET. Yeah...if the EMS crew gets their first or another biker is there to help you shouldn't have to worry. But...some Joe Schmo probably isn't going to realize that the helmet needs to be left alone. All current Shoei Helmets incorporate S.E.C. (Shoei Emergency concept) where the cheek pads can be unhooked and removed with the helmet still in place, thereby allowing the remainder to be removed from the victim without any undue strain on the neck. I wonder just how many emergency medical personel know (or care) about that? Most of em will cut the strap instead of simply undoing it.... Poof $600 helmet same thing with your leathers They are trained to do it their way not the way some manufacture says. I know a lot of folks in Seattle that have medical info (blood type etc) on the helmet though I DO think the "Do not remove helmet" should be on the helmet too though...... Might have to fold up a copy of Shoeis procedure and slip it into that little helmet pouch then. Its a shame to see a practical concept wasted. Anyway now if any of you come across and injured rider in a Shoei, you can advise the medicos on the correct removal of said helmet. I remember in my MSF course they said a basic fall of 4ft (i.e. dropped while hanging on your mirror) is enough to void the DOT or Snell rating. My buddy is an EMS and I gotta say that they cut it for a reason! Unnecessary movements of the body= less chance of paralysis! They mean well! Not to jump on anyone though. Just my 2 pennies! Freelance Bodyman I be ridin the Cali Bay Area '88 & '89 FZR1K BOTH ARE ONLY HALF NAKED NOW!!!

If they are strapping you to a body/back board, no reason they can't duct-tape the helmet to the board like they do your head. <img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v209/ ...
