OMG, OMG, OMG!!!! Found this article today!

In a stunning announcement by Yamaha today, the company has indicated that they are planning on bringing back the famed FZR.

"Many reviews and articles you see in magazines continue to hail the FZR as one of the greatest sport bikes to ever be made. We hope to bring it back and make it the best sport bike ever” said lead engineer Thomas Foolery.

The FZR was widely held as one of the elite in the sport bike world. Claiming great power, which still gives the newer bikes a run for it's money, along with superior handling made it one of the best. So why did such a great bike come to an end in the first place? “Bike sales were down in the mid 90s and we (Yamaha) felt that we had to choose between the two” says Smith referring to the other lineup at the time, the YZF. “The YZF was still only a few years old, and the FZR had been around for nearly 10 years. At the time we thought it was best to go with the YZF which is still a strong selling bike today.”

So what does the future hold? Plans right now are to follow a similar path to the R1 and R6 meaning you can expect a 600cc and a 1000cc to start with. There are still talks of bringing the 750 back as this has been a “missing” size class for some time in Yamaha's sport bike lineup. “We are excited to be working on this. Hopefully the public will be too.”

Good News, they still make the Thunderace in Europe correct? Unfortunately, the old cam chain in the middle design negates engine width, therfore had to changed, hence the New YZF "R" family.
