What large calibers? Most that stuff was .30 calibers. :D

I've been thinking about taking this deer hunting.

Wonder what a 750gr soft point would do to a deer?

You use "that" and there isn't going to be much of a deer left.

I've shot a similar gun to the one above and at a 300yd range I'm pretty sure the deer wouldn't offer enough resistance for the bullet to open up. I shot a full metal jacket throuh a stack of text books and it went through the first 4 without much damage, the book on the back blew out a little. There is nothing like shooting a big 50 cal like that, most fun I've ever had a a range.

Thats the idea. Kill and gut it in one easy step. I cant gut deer. Lose my cookies when its being done.

300 yds Jm? Hell this ones set for 1000. :D Went up to a reservist military range with a friend (who was in the reserves at the time) and he got some AP rounds for a 50 and we shot THROUGH the old half track they had for target practice. 1.5" armor @1000yds still is like shooting paper. :o

I would love to shot at a 1000 yrd range. At 300 yrds the bullet really hasn't stabilized its flight yet and it really wasn't as accurate as i had hoped. The range we go to only allows paper targets. I would love to go to a big shot'em up and split engine blocks in half. The gun is my friends and I'm fortunate enough to be allowed some rounds through it. For people that don't understand the how much fun a 50cal can be, it is the difference between a moped and my fzr1000.

My old .475 Wildey would put quite big holes in 4" posts. Custom loaded 350gr rounds. I miss that pistol. Sold it back to Wildey after it keep shearing a sear.

Cant wait until WI gets conceald carry passed. Now to see if theres a concealed holster for a desert eagle :P

Dont have the patience nor willing to climb a tree to deer hunt with a bow.

As for more skill, not really. You still have to hit the target.

SLip, dont worry. 99% of the people in the US who own .50bmg's and legal full autos are hard core enthusuasts. Least of the people to worry about having firearms. One of my favorite sayings when people whine about guns, "Senator Teddy Kennedy's car has killed more people than my guns". Really irks the local liberals. :P

it's not the gun that kills it's the man or woman that pulls the trigger that does do the killing,

Yes, thank god there is an Atlantic, keeps those Labour gun banning idiots confined to a silly island!

Typically one does not have to worry about convience stores being held up with a 30 lb (~15 kg) 5 ft long rifle!

Although I haven't shot a .50, I have done some long-range shooting, and the challenge is to get the 2 legged acuracy ruiner attached to the stock up to the performance of the rifle. It's waaay tougher than the press would have you believe!

Anyone tried to hit milk jugs at 100-200 yd with a pistol? That's tough but fun as well.. Hang time on .45 ACP is humorous....

On another note, good news, got a job with Yam! Woo hoo!

Small Arms

Post by djalbin »

For all you folks who are up in arms about the large caliber arms ... here is a small (minature) version to play with. Looks like it uses .22 caliber shells.
