Re: dogbonies

Put my dog bones on Saturday and went out all day today to test 'em out. I like the way the bike now has a good neutral feeling to it. Turn in is a lot more smoother and clean. Now I just need to mount the Powers and I'll be good! Thanks Jim!
Barney - did you do this to your 88 when you had it or is it on your 89?

Reason being - I'm doing the swap to the 17" rear so I realize I'm going to need to put different doggies on. Plus I'm going to go with Powers this year as well. Just wondering in the end with the Powers and 162's if that felt like a good set-up for you. If anything I want to keep the bike close to original settings or at least raise the rear by a short distance. Any info you can throw my way is appreciated!

lol...No, I know you got rid of the old girl. I just couldn't remember the time frame of when you did, and when you made that post if it was for the 88 or 89. So I guess it was the 89 you did this on, eh?

May have to call on Don for help on this. Have to determine the factor of a 1" smaller rim, different tire profile, etc.

I've read about how going to the 17" feels different for handling coming off the 18" and having a different profile tire on the rear has got me wondering if this bike is going to feel really weird once it gets back on the road.

Remember Nate, that the 17" rear with a 180 will sometimes make up the difference from a 160 18" incher.. Crosscheck 'em really good before you make the bone change. Different tires have a different profile size. Research before you dig in. I got a '89-'90 swinger spare if you want to buy? Hit me up at my addy, which you have!
