Winter projects

Post by orionburn »

I know Tim is busy getting ready to explode the rear end on his bike, so anybody else planning on doing mods over the winter?

Right now the only things I have lined up are replacing little things like wheel bearing and what not. Only semi-major project is making the swap to R1 calipers. Picked up a pair off Ebay the other day for cheap. Really want to do an engine rebuild, but won't have the money and especially time to do that this year.

just finished a R1 master cylinder swap on teh front, which has the calipers already.

Would love to do stainless lines up front, and I have a full R1 rear brake setup to go on.

Also would like to get dogbones to raise the rear up a good 2 inches. and examine a R1 tail swap maybe, or atleast a integrated clear tail light setup

Might check with Jim (dragracer) and see if he has some doggies left.

Curious about the rear R1 caliper. How are you planning on mounting that? That doesn't use the setup like the FZR does, does it? Meaning where it has the axle running through the mounting hole.

dunno, havent really looked, I was told all the breaks from FZR up are interchangable.

Yeah I was gunna get ahold of Jim, I was told her makes them and ships them and they are quite well made and well priced.

I also need to get a new windscreen, and get some new front signals

I just picked up a full R1 brake system today off of Ebay. Planning on doing the swap to the 17" in a few months, and may attempt to put the R1 rear caliper on then. Guess we can compare notes down the road...lol

no winter mods, but quite a bit of maintenance...tires, chain/sprockets, coolant change, stainless lines/fluid change/front pads, and an oil change...may upgrade the rear shock, and have kits installed into the forks...tossing around the idea of a slipper clutch...

maybe i'll just stick to the maintenance, and ask santa for the rest :)
She said, "It's just a bike...It can be replaced...", and I said, "Good, now you and my bike have something in common...".

I'm doing a fuel injection system on my bike. Most of the parts are ordered. I also bought a brand new D&D slip-on off of ebay last night. New brake pads are coming and still need to order a chain and sprocket set.

I saw some colored silicone hoses last night while cruising the net, I'll try to find that link for you.

Took the bike to be officially "stored" today :sad

At least it's in a nice warm garage, but it really blows knowing it's my last ride for a good 2-3 months.
