39mm Keihin FCR flatslides
39mm Keihin FCR flatslides
I have a set of 39mm flatslide carbs off an OWO1 fitted to my YZF 750 using a 1/4 turn quick action throttle.
Problem is the throttle action is very heavy.
OK for short races of 5 or 6 laps but longer races are a struggle.
Any suggestions to make the throttle lighter?
Stuart

You're just going to have to look for a different twist grip and go for one with a greater leverage/ longer pull. That, or try finding some lighter springs. Iff you're using a two cable throttle the spring shouldn't need to be that stiff (as you're closing the throttle with the return cable), Different story on a dirt bike, one cable, system where the spring is the only thing closing the slides when you back off on the gas.
If you're going to take a shot at me let me know so I can duck...!
Thanks it was great to retire on a good note thats for sure.Jaffa wrote:Steve,
Where did you get your lighter springs from?
Congratulations on winning Retro class in St George by the way.

Yes guys Im retired, I think it was time. I have had enough [for now]
I still have the P6 GSXR which I will sell at some stage. I have to do a couple of things first, & if I still have the it, I might have a trott at the Barry Sheene meeting, just for a laugh, but that will be about it. Nothing serious of corse?
Unless we get an invite to support the world superbikes at Phillip island, I wouldnt mind have a gallop around there on something with only 110hp. Should be nice & safe.

Well then, if you can't be encouraged back on to the track,
Here, here, ............ To Mr. Butler then.....
I sure hope you aren't letting a scare keep you off, just saying because of the 110hp comment.

Yes Yes I know, I said, I'm building a project YZF1070
Basement is done now, 850 finished and gone...
Gotta get the new siding up on the house.
Fixing the FZ1 up, cleaning up garage and then I might even begin

No mate, I just felt it was time I hung up the leathers. Ive done everything & more than I wanted to do in my return to racing. So after winning the Retro Championship, I felt it was just a good time to go.
Like I said, If I still have the 1990 GSXR I might have a wobble at the Barry Sheene meeting, but I even doubt that. You know when the time comes & It did for me. So for now its relax back & rest a while..
