LMAO!!! not quite...i was only ribbing ya...i have alot of respect for the 12R/14R, and the Busa...i admire the excelleration/top speed they achieve, and some of their design attributes...i just prefer a bike that has compromised speed, handling, and weight for an all around exciting experience...don't get me wrong, i do know some that can toss around a 12R in the corners, but never as efficiently as my R1...that's where they can eat my dustZX12r wrote:And Yamaweezle you must have one fast R1, welcome to the 200mph club...

And boy there's a lot of big talker's out there...

oh, i could just about imagine how the 12R & Busa boards are, lol... the R1 forums are similar, i'm sure (with one exception )...i'm not too fond of internet know-it-alls, lol...

well this thread certainly got some attn fast
I havent had the chance to be behind a 12r at the track days I've attended .....I sure would like to see if it can hang with me (like I said I'm no expert) but I dont think it could handle like the fzr1k in the hands of the average rider (like myself)
maybe I'm wrong...but I'd like to find out either way
am I wrong ? thoughts & opinions welcome
surely it is better than the busa in the twisties (err...right ?)

Ya dragracer, I had a friend that had that problem to.. I almost bought a 14 but I thought I'd wait and see some numbers first... sofar I'm dissapointed and so are alot of the ZX12 owners, The bike is not running the numbers that we all wanted to see. My 12r right now is only 5hp less than the 14.. If you are ever riding with your buddy again try running him in the first 3 gears, You should pull him by 3 or 4 bikes, but come 4th gear he's going to freight train you... The 14 has a crappy low to mid range and the liter bike's still have it's number I think.
The ZX had a timing retard active in the first three gears.
The engine is not weak anywhere.....
I've romped on Mikes ZX in first through third. After that, it's all over
There is a zx14 here that runs at the local dragstrip often, he has whittled it down to 9.8 1/4's (stock swingarm with 200lb rider). There is also a zx12 that runs 9.6 1/4's (160lb rider), but he has a 3-6 adjustable arm on the back (set at 4 1/2"), it is impressive to see and I wish the Fizzer would go that fast, maybe next year I can shatter into the 9's after some motor work this winter and maybe a 50hp shot of nitrous...
My 1040 has run 9.87's @ 144.
Stock length swing arm. and no 50 shot....
Ryan Schnitz just ran a 9.2 something I believe on a stock lowered ZX14

Is my tail light still working?

That is an ongoing qusetion jjs777. thats what most of the hype is about on the other boards.. The Busa and the 12 are soooooo closely matched that it just seem's to boil down to the rider's... as for the FZR I really want to lean towards the 12 just for tec. the fully adjustable suspention front and rear, you can tweak the bike anyway you like for that day at the track. But like you I have not ran at the track with one. I think that were it lost out in the corners it would make up in the streights. It would be much easyer to dump into a corner than the 12 because of the weight factor. But again that good ole horsepower & Torque is there to bail you out later on.. I would love to see the comparison (old vs. new) someday, wouldn't you? I've ran with Ahren in the corners a few time's and the FZ does really well, but I have riddin the bike and it does not feel as planted as the 12. with a big 200 sec tire on the back I can lay down alittle more power.

Ya Dragracer.. Its only a matter of time before all the tuners get the 14 figured out... Man that's a pretty awsom time you laid down there... I've only been once sofar to the track with my 12... I wasn't to impressed.. it was way to hot I couldn't get the bike to cool down at all, the Humitidy was unreal it felt like I was pulling another bike down the track with me.. my shorts were 2.0 , 1.9 at best... but the bike still pulled off a 10.40 @ 143... I'm going back in a few weeks to take another stab at a high 9sec run....

I just dropped the front sprocket to a 17 and the bike feels like it has another 10hp...but the front wheel is really hard to keep down in the first 3 gears.. I dropped the tire pressure that night to 21psi and was launching at 5-6000rpm the bike seemed to be hooking untill the 20ft then broke lose abit. I thought that I was tripping the 60ft beam with my back tire, hence I was carrying the front for about 80ft or so.... I don't think that I'm going to lower the pressure to much more since I'm running a street tire and they are not made for that. We'll trailer the bike next time so I can really beat the hell out of it...
PS I think that Mshap Like's you !!!!!
