Guess that's a post we lost in the transfer. I made an update about a week ago so I'll repost it......
************************
***UPDATE 1/28/08***
Talked with the Indy rep this morning. Sorry to say there still isn't a whole lot of new info to report on. Here's the only bit of info to pass on....
- Pit passes:Still being worked out. Currently they are talking about a special pit walkthrough on Thursday (prior to events starting on Friday) to allow people to see behind the scenes. I do not know if this is for everybody that has a ticket for the weekend, or for those that buy pit passes. It still looks that there will be no group discounts for pit passes. If you would like to purchase a pit pass you will need to do that on your own. Now you may be asking why don't I just get my own ticket then? Well, that's fine, but remember that if you do go that route you will be excluded from the group perks like the lap around the track, etc.
- Parking: If you are in the group buy your parking is covered for the weekend. HOWEVER, this is only during the day while track events are going on. After activities end for the day you will be required to purchase a separate parking pass for overnight parking (if you are staying at the track). Not really happy about this bit of info but nothing I can do about it. A 3-day parking pass will run between $20-40. The group parking is at a special lot close to the track that will be for the bikes only, so that is the one positive for the group buy.
- Invoices: They were supposed to go out in November, but it sounds like they are finally mailing them out in the next week or two. Even though they are sending them out payments will not be due until 2 months prior to the race (plan on paying sometime in July). Don't fret if you can't commit to the race at this point. If we need to add tickets all I have to do is call him and let him know how many more I need. They'll revise the invoice and resend it. After the money is collected and the invoice paid I'm not sure how that will work. I'm sure we can still include you in the group and most likely they will issue another invoice.
If you have any questions feel free to make a post and I will address them with the rep the next time I speak with him.
Thanks,
Nate

I posted a poll in regards to doing the group lap around the track. Please answer the poll by selecting the day you are planning on arriving at Indy. http://www.exupworldwide.com/forum/view ... 0457#60457
Thanks!
Thanks!

How many do you need total Haunter? I went back through the posts but still a bit lost on how many you need...lol. I think with the amount of tickets I'll be needing we're already over the 20 mark even if some people back out or only get one ticket instead of two. And we still have a long ways to go so chances are more people will be joining in.haunter wrote:and another one for me orion.....a buddy is coming too
I bumped up the thread with the poll on it for the date people plan on arriving at the track. If you haven't voted please do so since I will be calling the rep on Friday to let him know our group plans.
One other thing....we need to decide on what our group name is going to be. Do we want to go with ExupWorldwide to represent the site or stay with a "brotherhood" theme?

When we went to Laguna I really didn't spend that much money (other than the ticket and getting there). Be forewarned that the kids will probably try and bleed you dry at the vendors area...lol. Lots and lots of cool stuff. We made a run to a grocery store and stocked up on drinks and snacks for the day and it worked out well, and pretty cheap too.
Tickets are $75 each, and there isn't a discount for kids. They can't wait another year to go to college

What are the odds of getting an autograph from Rossi ? That would mean more to my son than any T-shirt (unless that's what he signed !).

Yeah, back when it was socially acceptable to beat your children and keep them in linesilver wrote:Yeah, I remember now ! 1972 ! I was 10!
Thursday would probably be the best day. That's why they were talking about doing the lap around the track on Thursday because they will allow walk-throughs in the pits (which I assume means that you can get in without a pit pass). Otherwise chances are probably slim unless they have autograph sessions somewhere. Better go get in line this weekend.silver wrote:What are the odds of getting an autograph from Rossi ? If you are still in need of booking a room I would highly advise you do it soon, and you book at this hotel: http://www.expedia.com/pub/agent.dll/qs ... /htid=2864
It's a Hyatt on the north side of Indy. The website will list it as Hyatt/Keystone. We originally had plans of camping out at the track but we aren't going to be able to do that now. I called the Hyatt yesterday and asked if there were options for getting a group discount if we booked x amount of rooms. During the conversation the pricing came up and she said rooms were going for $229/night. On the websites (Hyatt and Exedia) the rates are listed as $130 per night. Basically they haven't updated something in their system so BOOK NOW TO SAVE MAJOR BUCKS. As soon as I hung up with the sales manager at Hyatt I called Expedia and she confirmed that if you book now while the pricing says $130 you will be locked in to that rate. If they figure out their mistake then too bad - they can't charge you a higher rate.
To give you a better reason to book now there are two roach motels (literally...one review said there were roaches in the room) near the airport/speedway that are dumps but still charging $180+ per night. You can stay in a 3+ star hotel for a lot less. Granted in's on the north side of Indy, which is about 20 miles from the track, but if you aren't familiar with Indy then no worries. You can fly around the city on I-465 so it won't take long to get over to the track. Plus, Indy has their shyte together when it comes to traffic organazation. They've had a 100 years to figure it out!
On another side note I'm in the process of setting up a PayPal account for collecting funds for the race. I have no problems if people planning on attending the race want to begin making payments towards costs. Once I get it set up I'll post up more info. I tried to call the rep yesterday but couldn't get ahold of him. I'm sure I can get pit passes and parking permits added to the invoice, but I'm still waiting on them to finalize the info. I have no idea why it's taking them so long.
I wish we could do a condo rental like we did for Laguna, but time is running out and this is a good deal for the rooms. I'd like to at least get as many as possible in the same hotel to make getting together easier.

I booked at the Hyatt--check in Thursday, out on Monday.
The room sleeps four (king bed and queen sleeper sofa) but if the wife comes I'm not sharing. She's a screamer!
