Any one know anything about Dunlops SportsMax Roadsmarts? I've heard they are a dual compound tyre, though can't find any real info on them. A near new set came on the Thunderace I purchased recently. The carcass shape is pointy (sporty) Just wondering what sort of spec they are?

Don't wear as well as Michilens still.

Better to pay the extra few bucks for the big fat abominal tire dude and you'll get equal or better performance but waaaay more mileage out of the tire. At least that's what a buddy of mine, with a tl1000s btw, has experienced.

Cheers, not worried about how they wear, more so how they grip :) I know now they are a sport touring tyre, though dual compound... how soft is the outside layer? Tyre's are a load of wank... unless they are cooked worn out and chuck you over the bars :)

Running the Roadsmarts on the other bike in my life..06 Kawi Z750S. Great tire for what it is in my opinion.

Similar sort of tyre to a Michelin Road2. Sport-touring design, sport capable,
not what you'd choose for a knee-down-on-racetrack type tyre.

I'm in the Pirelli camp meself,Corsa 3 s are just sooo good on the roads around here but they might be a bit soft for long distance highway/motorway work as they'll flatten off after a while, just me 2bobs worth.

Late post, haha

I've been running the michelin Pilot roads for a while. Must say the wear is excellent and grip is also right there where you want it. I can not say a bad word about performance or wear.

I have donned the Dunlop Roadsmart tyres on my bike only for economical reasons, but must say I am very impressed. These tyres beg of you to corner, really sweet rubber. I don't know about the wear as yet seeing that I have only done around 300 odd k's on them of which 75k's was in the rain.

Just for comparison. Around April I bought a Michelin 2CT front and back for R2400. That was the cheapest I could get them. Last week Tuesday I bought a Roadsmart front and back combo for R1550. Rand / dollar exchange at the moment around R7.5 to $1.

Even if I only get 10000K's out of them, it will still work out cheaper to run on them than the Michelins.

ha... I haven't used them as yet. They are I believe a dual compound tyre, so grip at the edge shouldn't be too bad. It's the shape of the carcase that impresses me (nice and pointy). Can't wait to go and give them a go! I read a race track based test on them from a magazine in england, and they apparently performed very well in the wet. Thanks for the input all :)
