Seems a bit quiet out there....what's everyone think their next bike will be?

Next new street bike more than likely will be a HD ultraglide. Want to pick up a SV650 for racing. Kinda tired of the crap I get dealt with up here on a sportbike.

Rob,

What kind of crap is that, police hassles etc?

I'm just hoping to ride in the next couple of days. Gotta get new Lic plates for the bike before I can ride again. Silly me let them expire. A whopping $50.

Too many other things to deal with before I get a new/another bike.

Need to shed some Yamaha bits before I can consider what is next. Really should put my old Ducati Super Sport back together one day.

(Was bullshitting with a guy the other day about what would be the go for racing and we were talking about RC30s. He then told me about a guy he saw going hard down at Broadford on a VFR :) )

Haha... True regarding Jason.

Yes I do. Slightly damaged from the caliper torsion bar coming adrfit and the caliper spinning around and hitting it.

Police, squids trying to impress you by wheeling past you in the same lane, idiots constanty yelling "do a wheelie", ricky racers constantly revving trying to race the bike. Plus doing 400+ mile (650km) rides on a sportbike isnt the best ride. Also cant bring alot of gear (as in tent, clothes, camera) if I want to go cycle-camping.

Plus I want a change. Go back to the style of bike I rode when I started.

Why not get a modern UJM or standard machine Rob?

-FZ-1 or fazer depending on what part of the globe you live in
-Suzuki Bandits? or an SV1000(granted, more sportier than a standard)
-FJ1300
-New Z1000 by Kawi is beautiful
-a Concours for touring would be my ulitimate touring rig I think but hey?
- I'm sure there are many more capable and less costly than anything HD would have to offer.

Just my own :2cents

I've been thinking of getting something I can load up and go adventure touring on? There is so much great country to be seen out there! Probably not a Harley... I'm sort of drawn to the old Honda African twins

Sickle, looking for a tour bike with hard bags and trunk stock (no goldwings. They cost more than HD's now plus they have known issues with frame cracks and screwy front suspension).

UMJ's are going to have the same issue my YZF has on long rides. Have to get off after 3 hours. One thing I loved when I borrowed my old bosses roak king. I could ride it for HOURS without getting sore. Hell put 1300 miles on it in a weekend without much thought.

Hell should of had my HD back in 2003 but crap happens. YZf was supposed to be race only by then or relegated to play toy/trackdays.

I took a Road King out for a test ride not long after they first came out - really comfortable!!!

Even the wife was impressed with the pillion comfort - and that's saying something as we both hate the 'instant w@nker - just add Harley' that seems to go with the brand here in New Zealand.

We didn't buy one, not because we didn't want to, but the asking price was a bit much at the time, and there days I'd rather have a Triumph Rocket Three Roadster (when I win lotto) - they're totally sick. :banana

How about a Kawasaki Voyager then, or if Yamaha still do the Silverado...?

Hey Rob,

K dude, no worries, I understand now. If you're comfortable on it and like it, then, that's all that matter's of course right. Graham, it's not just in NZ that the aformentioned, sudden attitudal phenomenom change happens. Same thing here in Canada, although doesn't seem to be as bad in the States as Harley riders in the States actually waved back and appeared to be just as pleasant as any other two wheeler, although gaurenteed there are some of them funny folk in the US too I reckon. That'd be the reason I'd get a Vulcan Classic 900, I think, down 10hp from HD's FatBoy but then it was also down 100lbs so it would've evened all out anyways.

Good luck anyways dude.
