I had a look at their site and it's not listed yet, do you know if they're they using an existing model or will they add the new one to the list?

They will add part numbered fitments I guess. I won't go too much into the development of it. Email Neil and he will get you sorted

Sounds Great,

Until you see it's price, DAMN, that's friggen expensive Spook, that's close to $1000 once shipped I imagine.

Hey did you have a hand in helping to develop btw?

Is this for real? If so, will someone loan or give me $1000? Please?

It's for real, and reasonably priced for a proper fitment pro drop in part... yes I helped with this.

Last time I looked 549 pounds was 864 US dollars.

Nice price for a purpose made drop in unit, most I've seen are twice the price. Not sure what one would be like on the street, what the different uptake characteristics may be like.

Yeah that's just what I said,

$864 CAD, it's propably not too light and it's still gotta come across the water, plus brokerage, add all that up and you'll be pretty close to a $1000.

Kudos to you though Spook for not giving up and gettin'r done. It's still just a bit too pricey for me though, I'm sure it's beautifully made and it looks great, and it's cool that it's just a drop in piece. That said; I don't see it being much different than the Falicon basket, in fact there's likely less material there than the basket and that sold for under $400US, this is my reference point for thinking that it's a bit pricey. I had one hell of time finding just ten guys to buy a less than $400 basket, I can't imagine how it would be to find 10 guys to buy $1000 slipper clutch. Albeit, I'd bet most all of the racer guys would want one for sure as it is obviously more functional than 'just a basket,' hell I'd like one too but....

Sorry, I certainly don't mean to offend over this one Spook and again, kudos for seeing this one through.

It's a simple decision, and the sort of thing you either want or don't. I'm not making any money out of this btw, I'll have to save up for one of these like every one else :)

These centres are separate to the baskets, ideally you would have both, but it is not so important as the centre eliminates a lot of the stresses that are transferred to a clutch basket and gearbox.

The sigma slipper clutch functions as an adjustable back torque limiter, and its purpose is to eliminate compression lock-up, and the resultant chatter and rear wheel hopping that goes on under engine braking, it also will prevent an engine over-speeding on down-shift. In a race situation or hard riding, one of these would make a riders job a lot easier.

Oh,

Don't get me wrong, I definitely want one for sure, that's moreso why I'm whining about the price so much, I just can't justify that kind of scratch right now and it would definitely take me a while until I got there too, were it $500 or so to my door I'd have real hard time saying no. I've still got my engine and machine to build and I'll likely have a least a couple of custom billet hunks to pay for. If I rode at more than 7/10's on the boil more than 50% of the time, I'd likely be there too but it's rare my machines see over 6K unless I'm in speed mode and in Alberta, there aren't many roads to justify speed mode on.

Mike, for what you're building, (you've admitted it'll never see the track), a slipper clutch isn't something you'd put to use properly. Plus, even if it were to see the track, in Edmonton, our current facility only requires one up and one downshift, so the benefits would be less than either a smaller displacement bike that requires more shifting or a bigger track that does the same. The price is still very reasonable, especially considering a lot of more expensive kits require a separate and dedicated clutch pack to go with them. My pitmate has been struggling with his 1098 this summer after a good season on a GSXR750 last year. Right now his starts are killing him, actually, as I like to keep reminding him I'm killing him on the starts  . He's running a slipper clutch, on a tall geared bike, with the typical dry ducati setup. That was why I was wondering about uptake/friction point would be like, some can be kinda grabby.

Hey Spook,

Thanks for the intel on this slipper clutch. I have to say that at $1000, the price is OK, considering the YEC Dry Slipper Clutch had an MSRP of $12,000.

Cheers,

Julian
