bad experience with attack performance

Post by Hooligan »

so, i am posting this to vent. read this topic as a warning, infomation, whatever. if i can save someone else the time that i wasted, then i am happy with that.

for those that may not be familiar with attack performance, they are a superbike shop in california that runs a few bikes in the american championships and also make parts for quite a few bikes (rearsets, triple trees, clip-ons, etc...)

about 6 weeks ago i started looking for a rear suspension linkage that attack made in the late 90's for the yzf. a nice billet unit, more linear, blah blah blah. after not having any luck with ebay and the normal sources, i decided to check with attack directly. they actually have the product listed with pricing and details on their site, so i was pretty excited that it was still available. i contacted attack and spoke with what i am assuming is a sales rep/customer service to double check on the status of this item. he told me that the item was currently out of stock but he would check on availability. an email or so later stated that they can make it, but it will be a minimum of 4 weeks wait due to a company move/running race team/recoding the cnc files for new machines. i said fine, no problem and placed the order.

four weeks came and went, so i emailed the attack to check on status. my email is promptly returned saying that they haven't made the product since 1998 and it doesn't make sense to set-up the file to run one part. so, no linkage for me. i immediately called attack to speak with the sales rep that told me the part could be made, and was brushed away and told he would get back to me. so i wait. and wait. no one calls back. so i called back to see what was going on. he gives me the line that it would take too much manpower to convert the old cnc file for the new machine just to run one part, but if i could get 4 or 5 more people on board that they would do it. oh, and it would be another 4 weeks if i could find the group. now, i can understand the economics involved with manufacturing a specialty part, but the customer service should have made these issues claer from the second i placed the order and informed me on what i needed to do to make this order happen. i would have been more than happy to try and find a few guys to get on board, but now i don't want to spend a dime on attack products. so i said i wasted four weeks worth of time waiting on a part that was never going to be made. in a word, yes. now, during this time, no one ever contacted me to let me know the situation. i asked the sales rep if anyone was ever planning on getting in touch with me about the order i placed and he didn't have an answer. i am assuming that's a "no". i told him to remove my order from the computer and he says that was done long ago. he half apologizes for the problem, but he also didn't have much to say to me.

nice way to do business, huh? attack performance can bite me, i'll spend my money at companies with actual customer service. at least this experience wasn't as bad as the one with lindemann suspension.

screw you attack, i'm glad one of your bikes blew in the first few laps at daytona.

<img src=http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v209/ ... oapbox.gif ALT=":soap">

sorry about the length...

Damn, Hooli....sorry to hear. You think they would have done something to try an ammend the situation. Not calling you back to let you know is uncalled for IMO. Did you ever speak with somebody in upper management? I know it seldom does any good, but maybe somebody's arese at Attack would get chewed for it.

Frankly...there are a lot of stupid people in this world. Last year when I took my car over to Tire Rack to get new rubber put on they failed to tell me I had a cracked rim. I thought the tire that had been on it was going bad and that was the reason for the slow air leak. Got the new ones on and it was still leaking. Had pulled the rim off and found the crack. They even circled it! Couldn't believe they didn't say anything about it.
Nate - 87 FZR1000

Have you seen my fairing?
