Hi Everyone !

I'm a new member and having just bought a YZF 750R with 16,000 miles on the clock..
I was wondering what tyres you are all using / recomend. This is fitted
with part worn Pirelli Dragons. As the roads are pretty wet and grimey
at the mo in Yorkshire I haven't had a chance to give them a try out .
Any tips would be helpfull

Dunlop D208's ... but the new Qualifier is a better choice if you buy Dunlop.

Metzeler M3's.

The previous hit list has included...
Metzeler M1's (i liked them alot, hence the M3's on it now)
Pirelli Diablo Strada's (in an attempt to get decent life out of them!)
Michelin Pilot Powers (didnt like them. No progressive feedback, just grip grip grip then GONE!).

PS. I've been told theres a fair few different compounds of the Pilot Powers around the globe, so it may just have been i got a dodgey batch or something silly... but i'm not really wanting to lay down more money on a tyre i don't have confidence in.

So what's your opinion on the Conti's? I know they get ragged on pretty bad, but are they that bad?

They have just released a new Sport Attack which is supposed to
be much better. Haven't tried it yet, I can't seem to wear out my
Pilot Powers (!)

Very happy with the Powers BTW

Hi Guys,
I own a bike shop down here and have fitted all the tires that have been mentioned including other brands and all my customers just rave about the Pilot Powers. I also get to ride their bikes and the Powers seem to grip the best and feel the most stable of the lot. It all has to do with pressure, must be measured cold with an accuate guage. We ride on a patch of rubber the size of your palm, put in Aussie Dollars you can buy tires that cost $175.oo to $350.oo, how much do you value both your skin and the repairs to you bike? Pilot Powers down here cost $215.oo for the front (120/70ZR17) and $295.oo for the rear (180/55ZR17), these go on standard rims 3.5" front and 5.5" rear.
Thanks Daryl.

I'm really itching to try the Powers, but can't until I do a swap to a 17 incher rear :sad

I've been running the Bridgestone BT014's. Overall I've been pretty happy with them...with the choices I have it's about my only option anyway.

Hey Nate,
I've got a 17 incher that needs bearings right now, and I'll have another one in a couple of months that'll be coming off the bike.

Cool....if you don't need it down the road I'll be glad to buy it from you. I still need to dig that YZF rim out and see if there are any goodies on it that you can use. I won't get out of class until about 9 tonight, but I'll try to dig it out if I have time.

+1...the traction in the tire usually goes away before you can wear out the tread...so, you kinda have to watch it if you have alot of track time on them...other than that, they are the best tires i've run to date...i've been trying to decide if i want to try the new dual compound versions... :)

Dual compound version you say? Dare i ask given that there's a number of different Pilot Power compounds (was confirmed by my tyre shop) how you identify which ones are the dual compounds... or have they given them a new name?

The new one is a true dual-compound tire.

You can buy Pilot Power in 1 compound per geographic region.
The new one is Power "2CT" which has softer edges and stronger middle.
Power 2CT is not released everywhere yet though.

Power Race comes in soft, medium-soft, and medium.
These also have softer edges and stronger middle.
