Not bad. For $300 and it's a 1983 model. I couldn't get it out of the guys garage fast enough fo fear of him changing his mind. More pics here for those that are skeptical-

Guess she earned some brownies for that one.

She finall got a chance to really put it through the paces since she has been really busy since Sept. I must say, it was a sweet deal.

ANyone else ride dirt or have significant others that ride with them?

I have a dirty bike :D

What a great deal ! I remember the XR's well. I was whoopin' them on my RM125's . Completely different bikes of course. They never foul plugs though and gobs of torque.

Yeah, kinda worried about it being a collectable but she'll want something faster before long.

I doubt it. The front is a IRC which I am told is the correct brand that came on it and the rear is a Chunk Shin. (Cheng Shin)

Yeh i just picked up a 1978 XT500. Which i am in the process of putting TT350 disc brake front end on. Started riding dirt bikes then bought an SR500 then FZR1000. Had to sell me dirty to get the FZR, then realized that i really needed to have a dirty again, so the XT500 came along and now i have all the bikes i need. Just have to rebuild and upgrade components. :D Xr looks great. Put for me i am a bit one eyed when it comes to bikes. Yammy's only. :D

I just had knee surgery last year and had to let my 426 go. Sweet bike!
Tons of power, and a Rekluse clutch to boot. It was a hill climbing fool. To ease my pain I got a KTM 400sc. Heavier, not as powerful but easier to ride in the tight stuff. I still miss the Yami.

Hatter, Good job! excellent enty level bike. If she wants more, the DR350 has more grunt and is a easy starter w/moderate seat height. if she catches the bug, KDX200's are a popular opt. and have a good low end (for a 2 stroke.) and are stable enough to be fun at brisk trail pace. ( I learned early on was best to let the wife lead. nobody gets lost and yer there to pick up the bits and set things aright) I call it the Kodack chair. G :o
