Here's a link to some popular motorcycle books (PDF format). You can open them using Adobe Acrobat reader.

Gidday,

I'm all for the sharing of information, but I suspect that these PDF's may violate copyright laws as these books are available in the public sector.

I am prepared to be wrong on this account, but I think it's no different to downloading music and not paying for it.

The reason I bring this up is that I have been a professional musician for more years than I care to admit and I get pi$$@d off when I see people taking income from other musicians, and writers publish their work to earn an honest income as well.

That's just my 2 cents worth of ranting :hissy :hissy

Cheers

Just took a peak at "A Twist Of The Wrist" and the file starts at Chapter 11. So I don't think this site is in any danger of stealing anyones income..........

My argument involving file sharing is a 2 parter. First of all, the percentage of file sharer's vs the number of people who still go buy the product, is very small. Most of us still prefer holding the actual CD in our hands, and what if you music file gets corrupted.... I work in a store which sells music, movies, and books and if there is any sort of impact caused by file sharers I'm not seeing it. I send 10's of thousands of dollars of merchandise to the floor to be stocked every night just in that department. And mine is only one store, multiply that by hundreds just in that company alone.
2nd of all, if you are angry because a few file sharers supposedly are sharing files of your hard work, maybe you got into what you are doing for the wrong reason. Music and writing should be about passion first, and income 2nd. Income in any of those 2 fields is a bonus, ask any writer. And if you can really tell the difference in your income level caused by file sharing, maybe your products sales wasn't that great to begin with and you should be thanking file sharers for providing free advertising for you.........

Gidday,

Ah, that's the beauty of a forum, we all have the opportunity to express our own opinions.

There are a lot of comments I could put to your post, but I think the only thing they would achieve would be a slanging match that has little to do with the joy of riding our bikes.

I've made my point and I'll leave it at that.

Cheers

I'm sure there's a lot of thing we could both say that would be silly, pointless, and hurtful, but I think we both made our points and can leave it at that...... :cool

I'd just like to say that I've only been able to read Phil Irving's "Tuning for Speed" in the State Library (no borrows) and it's fantastic about engine design. Good to be able to refer to it, if anyone finds a seller, let me know.

Also Keith Code's books (and many others) have the effect of forcing one to reassess one's riding style and mental processes, improving street times.. i mean lap times, and control, at the same time. Oh yeah, and safety too, if anyone cares :banana

Pirsig's "Zen and the art of..." has almost nothing about bike tech, but loads about the meaning of life. Great, but you need to be in a semi-metaphysical mood to read it.

Anyone got any other favourite motorcycling books they can recommend?
