a louder exhaust for a fzr4003tj

Post by julesduke »

Please help! I am having difficulty in finding a second hand race exhaust. I am not really looking for extra performance. The main thing I require is for it to be louder because I use the bike for track days. Is it possible for me to modify the standard exhaust by replacing the baffles or something similar?

thanks julian.

ive never taken a look to 400 but i should think that a bit of welding parts together would get you just about any slip on pipe.
hold on to the original downpipes and collector and make an new fittment for the new slipon. cbr600 or similar should work fine. and they are easy to find second hand.
if you are not looking for more than sound this should work fine... at least you are not decreasing your hp by saving the original downpipes

I really cant see the point of a louder can for the track. The reason for fitting a race can to a bike is to unleash more power, now that does make sense for the track.

Take a look at FZR600 race cans, I *think* the bore is the same size.

Si

just go on and buy some 600 race can. If you plan to open up the original then know this: it will require as much work as making an totally new "do it yourself" exhaust can, as you have to change the original structure of the can.
basic difference between race and std cans is that race can uses a straight pipe (with small holes along) through the whole can and the innerpipe is then wrapped to sound absorbing woll.
std pipes do usually not have this structure as they have several collars inside the can and a pipe that dont go straight through it, but varies between the collars.

hope you understand my poor spelling ... collari is "laippa" in finnish and im not shure that it should be collar in tech-english

ps. you dont have to start an new topic for every Q. just add new q to this topic.

peace
