I'm not sure if this applies to you specifically, but the average weight of the american population has really ballooned. fastman put an fzr/yzf1000 engine with wiseco 1070, a good porting, a set of Keihin FCR 41´s, an acrapovik full race, falicon lightened crank and you might be somewhere around 170bhp. the only way you can have 200+ bhp is turbocharging, or buying one new ZX12R <!--EZCODE EMOTICON START :D --><img src=http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/happy.gif ALT=":D"><!--EZCODE EMOTICON END--> <p></p><i></i>

200HP?
How about a supercharger! <br>I've been wondering about fitting a roots blower. I would locate it above the carbs & remove the air box as it would no longer be required. A fuel cell would also have to be made & located lower to make room. Then a cover would need to be made to replace the steel tank or you could unstitch the fuel cell from the tank. The standard tank has approximately 4 inches clearance from the gear box. <br>The drive is the tricky part. Do you drive it from the clutch case? The starter motor? I'll let you know once I've done it. <br>Buy the way, its fairly cheap to do compared to a turbo.<br><br>Richie <p></p><i></i>

Superbike mikes puts out a billet block at 1125cc and they get 175hp on the motor with that. So if you get the full race exhaust and the keihin 41mm fcrs, you might be pushing 200 hp. I do believe that sbm's makes their pistons in all sorts of comp ratios, so with something like a 12.5 comp ratio and 93 octane gas would be your best bet for high hp and no preignition on pump gas. <p></p><i></i>

Looks like the turbocharger is the way to go, or Nitrous!, by the way if any of you think i am a complete loony, I have built a 1976 Suzuki GT750 two stroke, that is bored and stroked to 900cc, runs with snowmobile pistons and reed valves and puts out 165BHP <p></p><i></i>

By the way the problem with fitting a supercharger is the power losses caused by the drive of the charger are quite high, the turbo gets it's power from the exhaust gases so it's virtually power for FREE! <p></p><i></i>

I've got a 1040 kit and a turbo and have nearly reached 200bhp. Do you have any figures on how much power a root type blower draws on a motor. Would it be 5, 10, 15hp, or more?<br>And how much horse power does it take to drive a turbo & air pump? <br><br>YZF Rat <p></p><i></i>

i once saw an picture of an yzf 750 engine with an supercharger. he had taken the drive to it from the right hand side of crank. i cant really see it working in an yzf/fzr frame as it "interfears" with upper engine mounts. i think that it was made for some other than bike application.<br><br>for the turbo... i dont think it draws any power from the motor. it moves by exhaust gas only, hence no loss in power. the loss in power is becourse one usually likes to lover compression in order to have more pressure from the turbo. <p></p><i></i>

Look at my previous post re drive for the supercharger. I havn't got a problem with having to modify my bike as it is allready very modified. The reason I,m looking at a supercharger is that I have very little, infact virtually no space at the front of the bike (YZF 750 frame, 1000 motor & R1 cosmetics) to fit a turbo, also I hate the idea of turbo lag mid corner when you are punting hard. The supercharger that I think would do the job is off a small japanese wrx, the motor is only about 800cc. They are a root type blower that has two clover shaped paddles that interlock as they spin to pump the air as apposed to the screw type Eaton. Over here in Australia we can get these things for a couple of hundred AUS, about $150 US (Jap second hand imports). There is a guy over her at the Gold Coast who can comfortably get 180 rear wheel neddies from these motors, but the cost is prohibitive. Thanks for listening. If you can find those picks on the 750 you spoke about that would be good to see. By the way, your right about the FZR frame having the engine hangers in the road. My YZF 750 hangers have been cut and lifted to accomodate the YZF 1000 motor as the barrels are obviously longer.<br>Regards,<br><br>Richie <p></p><i></i>
