Big bore kits
Re: supercharger
yzfrat jes there is very little space in front of that configuration. i have an yzf750sp -93 frame, with fzr1000 -95 engine, and R1 -99 upper and bellyfairings. had to cut out the middlefairings, as i have the 93mod straight type 750 radiator, and it would stick out of the fairing (would look stupid). please post your e-mail, and ill send you the yzf750supercharger - pic. if you have some pics of your bike, id shure like to see them too=)
my enginebrackest are not cut to fit, but instead made with secondary brackets inside org mounts and the fzr1000 head has been a bit "fabricated" in order to have them fit.

friends of mine who have mounted turbos in bikes have all run into the same kind of problems

first the location. you have to have the turbo above oil-level, or if you cant, youll have to trust some kind of oil pumping system in order to get the hot oil away from the turbo fast enaugh. i personally would make it fit higher, as the reliability in high-flow gaspumps or like is questionable in streetriding. other than the oil issue its basicly bolt-on with some heavy welding. the issues with carb-settings and pressurizing issues can be delt with in dyno and with lots of money.

Last saturday i saw perhaps one of the best setups that i have seen. the guy had placed his radiator below the turbocharger. there was plenty of room and the turbo was well over the oil lever.

cterror@city.fi

I've used a FZR1000w radiator & suzuki Accross 250 thermos to fit in the tight squeeze. There is a 2mm clearance between the thermos & the head. I'll get some digital photos over the next week. What did you do to get your instruments to fit in the R! upper fairing?

Re: supercharger
hahahah!!!.. your running to the same problem as i am.
as of yet, i havent figured out any way to get the instruments to fit. i pressed them as far as possible under the fairing, and duct-taped them to place. as i just got the bike together (1040 wisecos), and i´ve just driven it for ~150 miles, i have to have the instruments at place for a little while still. when i´m shure the engine works the way it should, im taking the yzf instruments away, and install my Sigma BC800 bicycle-speedo in place, along with the active-lambda meter from Autometer. Im planning to add an oil-pressure gauge to the righthand engine outlet, so that´ll cover the oil-light, and ill have an watertemp meter from autometer to cover that up.
the only bad thing about this setup is the missing tacho, which i havent even thought about yet. but i dont think that ill miss it too bad, since you KNOW when and on what rews your own bike goes. at least one should

the R1 gauges would be nice, but i cant think of a way to fit them to electrics. and they´re digital, so thats one big difference too.

MY METHOD.
1. Use R1 fairing bracket & cut the bracket between the two headstock mount holes and underneath the top web about two inches from top hole. but not all the way through. Now spread the bracket to fit onto your headstock and weld it back together with a tig welder (the alloy is fairly easy to burn so be careful).
This gave me the best location for fairing height & lines. It also gives me enough clearance for gauges off bars & forks at full lock.

2. Take YZF gauges & cut off the speedo housing (When you have a look you will notice that the speedo & tacho have separate housings). Now your tacho can mount on the R1 fairing bracket using the top left hand rubber mount only. The other mount point I have is in between the tacho & temp gauge where I have drilled a hole through the back of the housing that lines up with the to tube of the R1 bracket, I then drilled through the R1 bracket. A rubber grommet goes in between as a spacer to keep the panel flat, square whatever, it also seals the hole you have made. You will see what I mean.

3. Speedo just happens to be a Sigma digital pushy speedo, max speed 300ks, records max speed during ride, five digit odometer, etc.....etc.... I have made up an aluminium panel with holes (slight taper on holes so they fit snug over original instruments) for the tacho, temp gauge & speedo on the left hand side & glued it to the original face. The speedo has been attached with clear double sided tape on the back of the panel so all you see is the face of the speedo.

I'm running a full R1 front end including tripple clamps (you can't mount the clip ons in the exact same spot as the R1 's they will hit the frame if you do). If your using the YZF 750 tripple clamps you will have trouble clearing the top of the fairng bracket towards full lock they will hit where the mirrors mount.

Tip. R1 head set has a larger diameter bearing than the 750 & larger spindle. Rather than changing spindles or machining the frame as others have you can just use a double row bearing with the same internal diameter as the R1 & same outer diameter as the 750. It will sit proud by around a 1/4 inch which doesn't interfere or affect anything.

Regards,

Richie

Thats a beauty. Now why would some want to use a turbo when you can do this. And I thought I'd be the first!

Re: Supercharger
yzf rat i didnt remember that it was that neatly done. had the pic in my homecomputer and i havent looked at the pic for a year or so.

the reason why we here cant do those is becourse finnish law does not approve blowers in any form, except when its installed in the wehicle from factory (mercedes 230 kompressor etc.)
but turbos can be added laiter and get approved. as long as power does not come up more than 20% *LOL*... guys have dynoed them with the pressurepipes disconnected

i have to look at the gauge-panel-issue the way you described. hopefully i get some garage-time next week.
