Re: handling upgrade
Now some on here had been experimenting with putting R1 forks on the older FZR's but I'm not real sure as to the mods and headaches associated with doing such a job. You can always send your forks out to be reworked. Meaning new sprigns, gold valves, different weight oil, and Ti nitriting. I seem to remember some quoting a price of around $300 if you sent your forks to Lindeman (sp?) but that does NOT include the Ti nitrite of the fork tubes.
Tim
<img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v209/ ...
Insert Joke Here
Dir. of Entertainment Eddie & the Cruisers
'94 FZR 1000

Correct; it costs $350.00 and for that you get:

-New Springs
-reshim
-revalve
-polished tubes
-new seals and wipers
-ultra slick fluid

If you price out the service using a Race tech kit and all the labor, it saves you money and puts your internals in the hands of Profesionals. Lindeman has alwya been really good to me and my shops.

CHUCK D.

Re: handling upgrade
If I had the $$ to burn I would defintely go with chuckd's Lindemann recommendation! Despite the fact the 87-90 used conventional forks, they were still very good forks especially the 89-90 at 43mm diameter.

You could have them tune the forks to your bike + rider weight.

Hi-ya Andy, also please browse thru pasts posts in 89-95 fzr1000 section as well as tech. Theres been lots said on the subject.

I ended up installing the 95 fzr1000 forks on my 90 and was essentially a straight swap. On my other 90 I ended up just freshening up the seals and oil. Installing a R1 fork setup on the fzr I don't believe is worth the aggravation when there are other easier alternatives including forks from a 94-97 yzf750r.
-John
95 FZR1000
90 FZR1000
Edited by: <A HREF=http://p072.ezboard.com/bexupbrotherhoo ... >jjs777 at: 10/8/04 1:46 am

For those with 87-90 models there are options.

Race Tech Cartrige fork Emulators
New Springs
New fluid

If you have a leeky seal, no better time than now.
Also, sometimes a new set of steering head beerings could help.

CHUCK D.
