Engine swop
I have a 1990 exup and i have just bought a 1993 motor as a replacement for the 90 ( as it needs a valve job doing) what are the main differences between the 2 motors. I know that there is a difference in how the oil is cooled but do the 2 motors differ internally and will there be any problems using this 93 motor in place of the 90 motor. any advice welcome Thanks. :bfg

Thanks for the reply, so can i just fit the 93 and do away with the old oil cooler ? or isn't it that simple, i know that the radiator is a different unit than the 90 version.

engine swap
The 93 has the oil cooler built into the oil filter housing, and the radiator is different as you have found, if you have the complete 93 unit with coolant pipework etc you will have no difficulty and can swap any radiator pipes that are different.
All the rest of the engine will fit no problem.

cooling it
In order to use a 93 in a 90 set-up, you must change the Oil pan, pump, filter housing, oil piping internally. All components from the 90 must be installed on the 93 engine. If you want to go the other way and use the 93 cooling system, which uses a spin-on, you will need to go with a 93 radiator. I have 5or 6 posts on this procedure in here somewhere. If you need more help let me know. I have done this conversion in both directions and am very familiar with what needs to be done.

Thank for advice Chuck i have just fitted the 93 motor in to my 90 frame and got myself a radiator from a 93. so i just have to fit the rad. will it fit on the 90 mounts or do i have to make some brackets up? as it looks a bit different to the 90 rad.
