Inexpensive quality valve guideS?

Post by KontoBoy »

I was looking for replacement valve guides today--best price I could find was $29 per kit (one kit for each valve) for OEM replacements. Seems expensive to me, and it's only a 4 valve head for an XT350.

Anyone have a better source? I can't imagine laying out $600 for 20 guides for the YZF head.

I'd be better off leaving the old ones in than making my own.

I can and do. Stuff like that that needs to be fitted to a motor, I don't buy, I make it so I can get a proper fit. But they must be reamed in the head as the press into the head alters the ID of the guide. You then need to recut the seat and relap the seat and valve

Well, for the XT350 I just went ahead and bought a set of 4. (I let me wife buy them for me as a birthday gift--not the kind of thing she's pick out on her own!)

Jim--I'm not ready to do the top end on my 750 yet--when I am, how many months of advance notice will you need?
