flatsides

Post by OWO1 »

Got a set of factory YZF750SP 39mm flatsides for my OW01 and an EX AMA tuner for YZF750's is trying to convince me to go without air filters in my ram air equipped setup. Sure it will take a few Horses away, but is a few ponies worth all that junk in your engine? For a street bike no way, but it makes sense for racers. Get the ram air box and buy a sheet of Uni air filtration material and cut some to fit in the mouth of the airbox. It will minimize air flow a wee bit but you'll get a happy medium for sure. Be careful with the jetting on a dyno, as I had a very reputable tuner do my work and it cranked on the dyno, but got it home after a 8 hour drive from cold and snowy Chicago only to find out the bike is unridable, as there is soo much airflow it won't rev past 8500rpm. Oh well, he agreed to set it up with the flatsides this spring for free. Good luck.

I've been running 41mm fcr carbs with velocity stacks for the past few years (FZR1070 '90). I've done over 50000km on my bike in ALL weather, including some heavy down-pours and have NEVER had any problems with the bike cutting out. I'd check the electrics if I was you.
