caring tuner
With the care and effort you put into that rebuild, I'd be surprised if you had any failures

Ok BUT HOW IS IT WITH THE 6 SPEED!!!!FZRDude wrote:Just a little update.
No problems after a year and no leaks either.
Thanks again Bob!
A ride impression would be fantastic. How does it feel? Tell me everything..
I am thinking of doing this 6 speed mod to my 93 thou. As I race it, I could only imagine it would be an advantage?? But I need to know is it worth while???

It is nice to hace 6 gears, but unless you are having trans issues, I'd recommend against it. In the first post you can see the ratio differences between the two.
I find that in the lower RPM range that there in almost no difference between 2nd & 3rd and the final drive is about the same as well....

Just read through the pages of this post excellent is all i can say a job well done esp with the documenting of the whole rebuild.
I'm glad its all gone to plan.
Tim do you find any acceleration increase at all with the 6 speed as I have an 1990 FZR with a spare engine, two yzf 750 also with a spare engine just wondering what would be best dropping the 6 speed into the thu or just making a 750 thou.

Fifth (in the six speed) has the engine spinning faster than it would be with a five speed, and sixth is barely noticable on the tach.Ok BUT HOW IS IT WITH THE 6 SPEED!!!!
It's and extra shift with no acceleration. It's actually slower if you count shift time, and you should.
The ratios across all six gears in the YZF trans are lower and closer together.
You really don't need it in the litre bike.
Fairings just get in the way of carb tuning
