Is it rich or lean???

Post by Yoniboi »

Accelerate hard in, for example, third gear. Goes good all the way, cut the throttle, wait a second, get back on the gas and nothing happens for a while... then the power comes back on like it was cushioned by rubber.

Don't ask me what I'm running, 'cos no one else has gone there.

Cheers all,
John

Sounds like it's flooding the spark plug with too much fuel ???

Sounds like a trip to a dyno with an exhaust gas analyzer is in your future.

Spook - take a trip to Jaycar and build one on the cheap:
Image
EGO (Exhaust Gas Oxygen) Tester

Refer: Electronics Australia February 1994 An EGO sensor monitors your engines exhaust and tells the EFI computer if your engine is running lean, balanced or rich - basically telling the computer if your engine is running in tune. This simple circuit is connected to the EGO sensor, engine block and battery positive and will save you $$$ on tuning by indicating the air/fuel mixture. You can then adjust the EFI computer or tune your carburettor (an EGO can be adapted to carb engines). * Sensor required - available from most automotive stores. * PCB, case, clips and components supplied.

They have digital display numeric readout ones too, for a little more

Cheers Guys,

When I get a weekend free I'll have a look. I was running 150s and it was lean. Went to 160s and now, apparently it's rich..... I could go up a notch on the needle.... but the mid-range is spot on as is and I don't want to bugger it!

Rich on 160's, lean on 150's. Hmmm, lemme see, carry the 4, I'd say try 155-ish? :poke
