Happened to me before

I would guess one of two things. The starter button has shorted out and melted. This is what mine did the only time I ever used my bike to get some trim.(thanks chuck for the use of teh 4runner)
The other choice of options would be the kickstand switch. Easiest mistake in the world, kickstand down, bike in gear, yada yada yada.
I would go with option one myself, take the switch apart, careful not to lose the spring and see if there is a meltdown. Mine was easily fixed at home without any new parts.
Just my two bits, good luck.

Corey

forgot one thing

Do the headlights go out when you thumb the switch? If so I would definatley go with the starter switch or maybe even the 3 plugs over the top of the coils, those plugs burn out and short as well.
Again, good luck.
Corey

Don't forget clutch cancel switch and IGN is prone to go south, sound familiar Corey? The one time I took corey's bike on a long trip, it shat out the wires leading into the harness and shorted out a few others. What a pain that day was, but nevertheless, thank you Corey.
CHUCK D.

thanks for the info guys ill try the switch. the problem started after i tokk the tank and air box off to get to the spark plugs i thought i put everything back right but i obviously did not. also i put my gpx battery on by mistake the terminals are opposite to the yzf the main fuse blew but i guess more damage might have been done at the same time.
