mirror replacement

Post by jjs777 »

I swapped out my stock mirrors on my 90 fzr1000 to the newer style 94-95 style (rectangular & longer horizontally) mirrors.

In a word...great upgrade. Now I can see more than my shoulders. The ones I got were from eBay! and made by ProSport? The pkg reads fits yzf600 and I guess the bolt pattern is the same across many models. Thanks Yamaha.

It gives the bike a more modern look. I like'm. The optical quality is what you'd expect from sub under 20 bucks. But livable.

Paid 19.99 for the pair.

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p072.ezboard.com/bexupbrotherhoo ... >jjs777 at: 5/2/04 8:56 pm

I just have to agree with John that the stock mirrors are REALLY limited on their view. Usually I can see 90% shoulder and 10% road.

Fat guy on a little bike....fat guy on a little biiiiiiiiiiiiike. the ebayer I got mine from is loylardan - seems like he puts them up for reasonable prices...starting at 19.99 and ALL of the folks that sell'em are careful not to put too many up at one time thus keeping demand high and prices high...stay clear IMOP for the 36.95 and up prices - too high

Lockhart/Phillips sells replacement mirrors for the FZR/YZF 600 for $20. Will fit the 1000. Chuck says they are the best replacement.

Tim
Director of Entertainment (eddieandthecrusiersmc.com).

20 must be for each mirror right?
otherwise that's a real good deal. the ones I got seem to be ok - just the optical quality isn't NASA material.

I would be willing to wager that those mirrors from both sites are identical to the ones I got...pkgd as pro sport. The extra costs go to the reseller.

leary john

Mirror Replacement

Post by Thermicman »

Hi Guys,

an alternative suggestion are the mirrors that come off a BMW R1100 or is it the R1150?? It's the BMW that they race in the Boxer trophy series. They are very long (size is important), look quite modern as the stem is a sort of double-bar alloy casting and they hinge about 1/3rd distance from the fixing end. This (together with the mirror housings that swivel every which way) makes them very adjustable. I bought a couple from my BMW dealer in Munich (where I live) to complete a handlebar bar conversion on my '89 EXUP Thou. They look great and the pair of them cost me 48 Euros which in my book is bloody cheap for a pair of BMW-quality bike mirrors!!

Just mounted a set of Emgo YZF 600 mirrors. Fantastic upgrade. I highly recommend this mod to everyone. They don't vibrate at all. Rear vis is a huge improvment and they look ten times better than those stock pieces of s**t. DR.

I must have suggested this mod in 98, 99, 00, 01, 02, ... you get the point. I'm glad to see that more guys have switched, it's a great cheap upgrade. Be careful though, all aftermarket mirrors eventually loosen up. I took the screw out and put some teflon tape, never any more problems. These mirriors will also fit the 87-88 too. Let all of your friends know.
CHUCK D.
