750 CDI on a 1000
750 CDI on a 1000
I have just transplanted a 1000 exup motor into my YZF750 frame. Can I use the 750's CDI? I know that the limiter on the 750 is much higher than the 1000 but is there anything else that could be a problem?

Also, the fuel pump in the 750's tank, can I remove it, I've been running for awhile with no pump so I don't see the need for it. Why was it installed anyway?

THANKS
J

Fuel pump
The fuel pump is internal and is needed to control fuel delivery. If you have been running your bike with the pump unplugged, I wouldn't suggest doing it any more. Have you ever see what happens to an engine that has run on washed rings? I don't even now if the bike would run without the pump, and even if it could, what advantage is there to running without. I would recomend using the 1000 electrinocs, it also screws up exup control when you use YZF 750 box on 1000 engine. If you need box and exup servo for that config, ;let me know I will put together a package for you to help in the change over, elec parts are not the cheapest, but trust me, you don't want to but them new. Let me know if you need those parts.
Chuck D.

Thanx ChuckD
The Exup Servo should be the same for both motors but the degree exup opening and ignition advance is controlled by the Black Box. Can I just plug in the 1000 Box and how much will a Box be including delivery to South Africa?

Servo
I agree, you can use your YZF servo motor, but you must use FZR 1000 Black box. The only conversions I've done used only YZF Frame and body, EVERYTHING else was FZR 1000. There are different FZR elec as well, 94+ are diff than the rest. As far as shipping to S. Africa, well I will have to get back to you, I'm sure it wouldn't be that much, but you may want to try and locate them locally first. I have no idea if these parts are hard to come by outside of the US. I am always buying spares, and have accumilated quite a few. I'm always willing to help out a fellow brotherhood member. Give me a buzz and we'll talk about more.
Chuck D.

CDI Units
My experiance is that it won't work. I tried it on my Hybrid & couldn't get it to fire with the 750sp CDI hooked up. The connectors on the 750sp & 1000 CDI's are different, as for the standard 750 CDI I don't know. Unless you have modified the heads & changed the cam to make use of the higher revs it will be pointless over reving it. Not to mention the additional stress you will be place on the motor by over reving it.
