Tacho fault find

I have a YZF 750/1000 Hybrid that I built 4 years ago and have had this problem with the bike since I built it. The tacho registers a fault indicated at 7,000 rpm. Yamaha said that it refers to the feul sender unit being faulty. So I got a second hand unit from the wreckers, which didn't rectify the problem, so I bought a new one, still the problem persisted. Since then I have replaced the TPS, CDI, tacho, wiring loom & ignition switch. Has anyone had the same problem & fixed by some other means. Take note that all electrics & mechanicals are YZF 1000 thunderace.

Thanks to someone who can help.

Greetings YZF Rat, Welcome to the Brotherhood.
This topic has been discussed at length, but I do not recall anyone actually resolving the situation. Do a search under Tech Tips and under YZF750 for Tacho Tango.

Tim
<img src="

Thanks for the welcome Tim. I wish I had of found this site a long time ago. This is my second exup, my first was a dark blue & charcoal 92 model FZR 1000. I had rejeted the carbs & modified the airbox. This gave it quite an increase in power from 7grand up.
My current bike is a 93 model YZF 750 frame with a customised rear subframe, YZF 1000 thundeace motor. frontend is all 99 R1, rearend is YZF 750 with R1 wheel & brakes, fairing is completly 99 R1 with a YZF 1000 tank. Engine mods are limited to a Factory Pro titanium jet kit & Arrow carbon fibre slipon. The result as a whole is pretty good. Any thanks for the welcome.

Richie.<img src=
