Spark Plug Socket

Post by djalbin »

Changing your own spark plugs on your 1994 FZR1000? First purchase the correct spark plug socket. The spark plug requires a 18mm socket that is thin enough to fit into the spark plug well. Standard 18mm deep socket is too thick to fit into the spark plug well. Bought my spark plug socket from the Yamaha dealer for $4.99 The package was labeled 12mm spark plug socket ... but it fits. That's because the spark plug threads are 12mm. Therefore the spark plugs and the socket are considered 12mm - even though it takes a 18mm socket to fit over the spark plug.
