Pilot Powers at 7,500 miles

Post by Windfree »

Here is my rear tire of my 92 FZR1000 at 7,500 miles. I have nothing but praise for these things, cold, hot, wet or dry.<img src=http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v209/ ... ock_On.gif ALT=":rock"> <img src=http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v209/ ... I to just had a set mounted. Best front tire I have ever felt, and that's only after one shake down run. Steering effort just went to as nuetral as it gets and man do these things turn in! I instantly noticed the soft compliant nature of the silica/rubber compound, very forgiving over the bumps.

I have a big block suzuki that is huffed and when it comes on the boost, the first and only warning you get is a little spritz of bubbles in the boost gauge...
It's a draw through so it's a freekin light switch!
Jim <img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v209/ ... Official feedback now. Just ran about 300 mile day on mine and can make some better judgements. Front end feel is awesome, turn in fast and precise, rear tire grip is very consistent with good crossed up wheel off the ground drive out of corners. ChuckD noticed before me, but these tires don't get hot. Just warm and sticky! I think that this temperature shedding issue is how they get such good longevity.

And yes, I have been a Bridgestone man, but I am not so brand specific as to not try something new. If these do wear as well or better than the 'stones I will be riding these from now on. Also, you blowuphuffingboosting fellows should know from the Gary Macoy Red Bull days, spinning the tires only harms the tread not the carcass of the tire. So, spin baby, spin!
<img src=http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v209/ ... neGun3.gif ALT=":mg3">

A little dated but probably still relative. Looks like I'll be getting the Pilot Road 2's when I can afford them. Sure hope they don't melt come summer !

Gidday,

I've been using Pilot Powers on the SV for a couple of years now, generally I've found them to be great tyres - wet or dry.

Currently I have a dual compound PP on the back that is pretty much fonged with 5000km on it, but this is probably to be expected with the soft compound on the edges.

I'll probably try Metzler Z4's next time around - just for a change.

Cheers

I have the original Pilot Roads which I've been riding since the end of October. Both front and rear are showing a similar wear rate. The have nearly 8,K miles on them and still enough rubber (about 4.5mm) that I'm not worried about rain.
