Busting brake bulbs

Well, I'm all flustered on where to post this thanks to Bot's post about posting about light bulbs

I've had the bike up and running for around three weeks now. In that time I've probably gone through 4 brake bulbs now. What the fup? One time the socket wiggled itself out, bulb got too hot from laying against the housing and popped. But all the other times the running light filament has went kaput. The light housing isn't overly tight so there is some freeplay to it. I've tried 3 different brands of bulbs and all last a few days then they're out.

Think this is more of a wiring issue? Could take it to a friend that's good at figuring volts/amps/etc and see if they're running too much juice through them. Anybody had issues like this before?
Nate - 87 FZR1000
<img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v485/ ...
Have you seen my fairing? Take the bulb out and see if the contacts on the socket are corroded...

Jim <img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v209/ ... Replace them with 1157 LED's. Problem solved.
<img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v209/ ...
There are some who call me........Tim?
Top Speed = Mach 0.197 or so...
1994 FZR 1000 <img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v209/ ...

you can buy 1157 LED bulbs by themselves on ebay for like $5-$25 each depending on the number of LED's.

I really like Jim's tail light. It is different than any others I've seen because it is one rectangular LED rather than 2 seperate bulbs. Really neat.
<img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v209/ ...
There are some who call me........Tim?
Top Speed = Mach 0.197 or so...
1994 FZR 1000 <img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v209/ ...

oburn walmart sells the led bulbs too for fairly cheap - might not be best quality BUT you can at least experiment

I think thats what I would try

funny you mention this...my rear bulb blew a few days ago

sympathy blow?

<img src=http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v209/ ... ananna.gif ALT=":banana">
-John <img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v485/ ...
1995 FZR1000
1990 FZR1000
1990 FZR1040

If you're having probems with LED indicators I can supply electronic flasher units that will work at the right flash rate, without using 'load' resistors.
£30 shipped in the UK; $55 shipped to the US.

Some possible problems with blowing light bulbs are:
Vibration - slap a load ot grease in the bulb socket before fitting it, rubber mount the light (as well).
Faulty voltage rectifier/regulator - 'borrow' another one to try.

Allan.
