Mechanical Aptitude

Some of you who post in this forum's Tech Tips section may be wondering whether you have the mechanical aptitude to be working on you own bike. Wonder no more. Here's an online Mechanical Aptitude Test you can take for fun. If you pass, you can post all the Tech Tip questions you want and do the work yourself. If you don't pass, you can still post Tech Tip questions ... but you're probably better off taking your bike to a reputable shop. If you score 100, I want your phone number so I can call you to work on my bike.

80% is a pass, so that's got to be good.

90% for me.

90% for me. :cool

But I want to know what some of those questions even had much to do with working on a motorcycle...... :? Maybe someone could find us a motorcycle specific test.

I got lucky. I don't have to give you my phone number. I only scored 98.

Not fair... they don't tell you the right answers when you've finished.

Got 88% and there were a few I'd've liked to have checked up on.
Like no.15, the one with the 150ib weight on pullys. Mechanically none of the systems offered advantage, but two of the three would've meant more friction. So was the answer A. A would've been easier, or D. No difference??????

Never mind, it was only for fun anyway, and most of that stuff I haven't seen presented like that for over 20 years!

eeeeeeee. I'm gettin' old.

I dont remember the pictures for circuits well, and dont remember the weight reduction of pulleys at all

100%. Even though some of the answers are not exactly correct.

90%, uncertain about the pulley questions--I took the pulley off my bikes long ago.

Everything else seemed pretty straightfowar, though I agree that some questions/diagrams were ambiguous.

I like that little test. Only got 78% - but the pulley questions got me for the most part. And a few 'silly' errors (such as accidently clicking the wrong answer and not being able to go back and change). I am amazed that my year 12 physics lessons on circuits stuck with me though!

Doh.
74%.
I did guess a few answers though.

Sheesh...only got a 70%. Had the same problems as Haunter. Not to mention my applied statics professor can't teach for shyte so that didn't help with the pulley systems.

Got an 86%. And I also had a hard time with the circuits, and I build guitar amplifiers from circuit diagrams! I guess The diagrams I'm used to looking at are for different applications. And a lot older....
