Blue Dots for my YZF750

Post by RUFtech »

I finally won an auction on ebay for a set of blue dots. Only took 6 months of trying to get them at what I wanted to spend. I already have a R6 master cylinder. Does anyone know if the brake lines from my bike will fit the new stuff? I have stainless braided lines and don't want to have to buy more.

You guys aren't giving me alot of confidence here. Should fit!! Won't be the nicest fit!!. Does this mean they will be jury rigged or something? As this is obviously a safety issue I'm not real comfortable with that. Are the R6 or R1 brake lines long enough for my bike? Maybe I will go ahead and buy the proper lines if they are.

The differences are in the mounting angles that the banjo bolts have in relation to the caliper.

When I got my "Gold" dot calipers, they came with the stock lines. The were long enough and had the right banjo angle and were newer than my stock lines, but they were still rubber.

I have since swapped over to braided and I don't recall, but I want to say I just ordered them for the 1000 and bolted them up. The braided lines seem to be a tad bit longer than the stock rubber lines.

I have R1 calipers on my 95. The stock length braided lines for the FZR worked just fine

Thanks for all of the help guys. I'm finally getting some time to finish some of my wish list on the bike. This has been on the top of the list next to my fuel injection system (which is back under way again by the way).

R6 calipers are finally done. No it didn't take that long to do the job, It took that long to get time to do it. It only took me about 2 hours yesterday. The brakes stop way better. The lever feel is a little wierd. It has almost no free play and is very hard. But it takes only a small pull on the lever to stop. The brake pulsation I have had since I got the bike is now gone. The brake lines actually fit very well.

Now start looking for a radial m/c and you're "In like Flint"!!

It'll do away with the wooden feeling in the lever.

Yea, I just went to a regular R1 caliper. Worked wonders. The stock MC gave HUGE brakes but the feel was pretty wooden. I think that's your issue. The R1/R6 MC's are not the same I don't believe.

I used everything from an R6. Calipers and master cylinder. All parts came off of the same bike.

Hey Tim,
I have read that the radial m/c won't work properly with the R6 calipers. Have you tried this an know that it works? I am willing to try it if it does. I'm still a little confused about why I am getting the wooden feel if I am using all R6 parts including the m/c. Thanks for your help.

I have '00 R6 Gold dots (the gold ones brake better than the blue ones), a '07 R1 Radial M/C, Galfer Braided lines, and EBC HH pads. Oh I also have Brembo rotors.

So, I guess I need to machine some adapters and put my radial calipers on and have even better brakes. :P

What are the Gold dots off of? Are they the R1 calipers? I have seen gold and blue dots advertised as R6. And damn, everybody wants a mint for the radial m/c.

I only paid $60 for my whole R6 brake stuff. I don't want to pay double that just for a m/c. I will have to start looking for a used one I guess.

In the mean time I will have to use the wooden brakes.

I'm looking at Brembo Radial Clutch and the only things I've seen are in the $300 range.

$100 don't sound too bad.
