I'm about read to try checking/adjusting the valves on my YZF1000. I have the HotCams kit. Do I need a special tool to life the lifters off the springs ?

Silver, if you mean lift the buckets to get at the shims, I use a strong magnet to pickup the bucket and it brings the shim with it. You shouldn't end up dropping a shim and loosing one?....

I use a magnet out of an old computer hard disk. Cost nothing and works really well. I also make a spread sheet up and document all the sizes and chenges. Then second time around your half way there?...
