Valve adjustments - What was your first readings ?

I'm just in from measuring the valve clearance on the YZF. I hope it's done breaking in ! The exhaust is supposed to be between .20 ~ .30 mm. It's averaging .17mm. Mighty tighty.

Meh....
that would be .0067. Now....I'll bet you can't tell the difference between that nad .007.
But on the other hand, I like to run them on the loose side. They seem to make a bit more power there. You can calculate the ammount of cam retard you can get by opening up the clearance a bit. Look at the relation of the base circle na dthe cam lift. It's a cosine thing.

How much looser past or around factory recommended clearances is loose enough btw Jim?
