Freshly painted FZR 1000 1990

Post by Glen73 »

Not all complete, still get a few loose ends to tie up. Have to take off the fuel lid and get the paint off it. It was a learning process for me as i found out why they 2pak fairings. I added the new dog bones and a exhaust. The old exhaust was so ratty when i took it off everything inside moved around. Now theres no flatspots and the thing rev's very freely all the way to 11,500 rpm. With the old exhaust you could tell it wasnt letting the motor flow at all. Now its awesome.

Still undecided on the wheels, i like the white but i may pick a less "bright" white if you follow.

Good work Glen. the reason they use two pack is that it is so damn easy to use. Don't tell anyone though :) A less white bright like silver??

Nice paint job Glen, why not add some graphics in "chrome silver" vinyl from your local signwriter - then you could call it "Vodka & Orange" :banana

Vodka and orange, i like it but it was never my drink..... Went the normal silver non chrome instead. Just waiting for the decals to turn up. Turns out i might have a chance of 2pak clear coating over acrylic after 6 months to get that deep high gloss finish. By then it will probably be my daily ride so i might not be so precious about the paint.

Do you like me muffler, found it wrapped up for hard rubbish :) It was off a ZX7, so after ringing megacycle and getting a quote for $180 to make a flange i went and made one myself for $10, that was the cost of the weld :P I love finding stuff like that.
