Congratulations on the bike. Your going to love it that for sure! Now we both have a Gen II FZ1 and an early EXUP (well mine's a Thunderace).

Very nice scoop Cam,

I'm curious though, why didn't you wait another year or so. I'm sure they'll bring the crossplane over to the FZ1 in time enough? At least you'd think they'd bring it over.

Great score though, I like my 03 but would love to have the 06 and up even more. Either aren't the FZR though, although, sure is nice driving something so new and shiny.

Been working hard and paying off debts for 4 years since the
FZ1 (2nd generation) was launched, wanted one all that time, finally
paid off everything and Yamaha had a special on the bike, a special on
the finance, and I needed something for commuting now. When I saw the crossplane wasn't coming to FZ1 in 2010 I knew to buy this.

If crossplane comes in 2011 I may upgrade in '12 or '13. ????

Cam you made a fine choice. Gen II FZ1 is a great all around motorcycle and why wait for something (crossplane engine) that may not happen for a while.

Because Im into old bike racing & not road bikes. I havent taken much notice of what new & whats not. But there is no doubt that is a tough looking bike. I like it. How's it go Cam.???

Dunno yet! Rode it home on brand new greasy tyres in a thunderstorm (the
edge of that cyclone). Wasn't game to test it out! Been stuck
at work in the car (for various reasons) ever since. I'm going out on it
in half an hour, wish me luck and goodspeed :P

Everything will be off of the walls, out of boxes, out of hiding and brought out of deep dark crevices within the garage and house soon enough Jonny. Just you wait and see. I'm going to have to bring the engine inside the basement soon enough so's I can send the crank in with my basket shortly, I'm sure my Mrs's is going to like that a lot.

in time... I get the feeling I'll have this bike for quite a while, it's a keeper ;)

Oh and just wait until you start to mod it! Full exhaust, modified airbox, PC III with proper map and 16t front sprocket ;)
