Project YZF 1040 injection
Hello , after a long time I think this bike is going on the street this year
I think 4 years back i said , I am going to make this. If you do a search you will find that words from me. Well here it is,and I want to share this with you.
Its a YZF 750 with 1040 engine full tuned and a 6 gearbox.
I can make a list but I dont think I will do that, its to much.
The injection is : Gsx 1000 k1 throttle boddies
Gsx 600 fuel pump
KDFI ecu
The wheels are modifided galespeed wheels and yes the swing arm is a YEC version. Front end is Ohlins I think the superbike version, but I dont know for sure.
The airbox is still in the work. I want to make a big ram airbox.
The biggest you can use, with the throttle boddys in the airbox and the coils moved to the front on the sub frame.
If its ready I can show it and maybe i can make some for a good price.
Maybe, because I have a lot of work with the molt
The radiator is not the one I want. I want a bigger one.
This year I want to ride on this thing so I leave it this year.
The bike is running on injection but I must tune it on the street with data logging and after that I will put it on the dyno. I hope 160 170 hp,but that are dangeres words I think.
Sorry for waiting.
I'm just a tech freak its my hobby and my work.
cheers Gertjan

Wow! You're bike is lookin fantastic! I remember when you 1st showed us this bike (ex-race SP model with YEC Swingarm and other YEC Kit Parts) and you sold some of the YEC parts to some of the forum members on here.
I believe Kontoboy bought your Marvic wheels, YEC Airbox and YEC rear axle assy from you.
Anyway, it's very exciting to see the progress and I can't wait to see your SP with some bodywork on it too. Do you have a replica racing paint job?
I'm sure the 1040 motor will have some impressive dyno numbers!
Cheers,
Julian

Excellent work Sir,
I too have a very similar story of a machine build.
Although, I don't have a 750Frame, but......
I will have a 1070motor with FI
and a long list of mods also
SSSarm, r1 Subframe, GSXR front end with radial brakes, lighter wheels,
Perhaps maybe I should look at the 750 Frame.
I've also got a 750Rad to mod in, but if it's a no go, you'll be the first to know.
Exactly?
Can anyone tell me in a nutshell the frame differences of the 1000 and the 750 frame? I know they're a touch smaller and lighter and handle a bit better.

Yes Yes I know, I said, I'm building a project YZF1070
Basement is done now, 850 finished and gone...
Gotta get the new siding up on the house.
Fixing the FZ1 up, cleaning up garage and then I might even begin

i remember you as well, it's good to see you have been hard at work on the project! can't wait to see the horsepower numbers, and i hope you get a chance to take it out this year.
ps to the members in the netherlands, i might be in your country this summer for vacation. as long as things go as planned, holland is on our list of locations. if so, i would love to meet up!

Hello everybody. After a long time I have some updates and pictures
I had made my own airbox: ram air with filter.
Its still not a perfect item but it will do for now.
Maybe in the futere from carbon, the thing is Its under the tank.
I have tried it on the road(not on the dyno yet.
Its in sane fast and a little bit dangeres on the moment.
Its power is agressive and loves wheelys.
I wanted to the painter this winter so the dyno must wait.
Fairing first that meens a lot of work.
I mounted a zxr radiator and cut out for the air intake.
Long cooling hoses are aluminium now
Under the radiator I have mounted a Ducati 999 oil cooler
I wanted a full cooling system from up till down.
That was a problem. I had R7 fairing and the fairing doesnt fit with the cooling system. Yes I can leave the oil cooler and yes I can lower the complete fairing. That is not what I want. And it must fit as it belongs to the YZF 750R.
So The only option was use the upper fairing and make complete new site panels.
Orginal it has Upper fairing and site panels complete.
and Lower fairing.
I dont like that> Its a big peace off plastic what you must bent over the complete motor. Not a good plan with a expensive paint job.
I can tell you this is the hard way.
I will make a model from clay and polyesterand glasfiber
Copy that and you have the mal from polyester/glasfibe/glasfiber
Fill the mal with polyester and I have complete site fairings.
Cut that in two and I have site panels and the lower fairing.
In the final I have upper, site panels and lower fairing completed with race fasteners.
Here are some pictures:
I don''t give up

Hey Gertjan,
I do now have a 750 Frame to put my 1070 into as well. Very nice job. Aside from the 30cc difference it appears we are building close to the same machine.
Here's my question, the 1000 brings fresh air into the box through the large holes in the side of the frame rails near the head stock. The 750 however brings the air into the air box, how exactly, I've never owned a 750 so I don't know how the heck any air is being ducted into the airbox?
So before I go cutting to big circular holes in my 750 frame for air, can anyone enlighten me please?
