New guy

Postby SteadyEddie » Mon Apr 01, 2013 12:40 pm

Just picked this up about a month ago. Coming from an FZR400 to a ZRX1100, to this.....

Previous owner left it running for what he claims was only 20 minutes, warped the sides and belly pan. The main key switch is also giving me a hard time so will be replacing that too. Been poking around the web since I bought her looking for a site dedicated to YZF, or at least containing references to it. How many guys we have from the states? How are parts to come by?

Depending on what parts you're looking for, some are still available, some are hard to find.

Not sure if Yamaha had addressed the main ignition molex that fused themselves together on the FZR, have a look at that. Keep an eye on your mileage, if it's getting bad, your needle jets have likely ovaled on you, FP for replacements. FP has some good fixes for the crude Yamaha 1 to 2 shift as well. Clutch basket was never great with these motors, Yamaha did address the issue with the YZF models though so you should be Ok. A falicon billet basket is the way to go to rid yourself of all doubt, or SigmaPerformance makes a drop in hub for slipper clutch, that's the real ticket. Little pricey but....... Oh so very nicey.
