Twins! errr Triplets?

Post by jjs777 »

Here's my '90 FZR1000's. That wheely lasted longer as a snap photo than it did when I took the video! lol

1990 FZR1000 Bike#1 now w/1040
1990 FZR1000 Bike#2

I came across a mint 95 FZR1000 with just 7900 miles in August '03. I could not resist and just had to have it. The ride is much different than my 90 models. Sharper steering, more rigid suspension, but about the same amount of seat of the pants feel. Actually one of 90's with the V&H PowerPak seems to pull better. We'll see at the track shortly what they will run, as I will have a buddy drive one up as well.
1995 FZR1000

PS Could've gone with an R1 but there's just something about these now aging 13 year old bikes. What do ya think the designers at Yamaha think when they look back at a bike that they put together so very well ove a decade ago.

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p072.ezboard.com/bexupbrotherhoo ... >jjs777 at: 8/17/04 2:05 am

Thx.

The corbins are different for all three bikes. Both 90's have corbin gunfighters BUT the older saddle is much different than the one I just bought in '03. The '03 model gunfighter is simply awesome, as I ordered it with super stiff foam padding and all black leather, quality finish and it is a bit wider than the older corbin gunfighter that I have on the other bike making for better seat time. The older one, a bit narrower, but very very comfortable for long rides with soft foam, and they both give great looks as if they have that rear plastic perch piece. I think they make the bike look that much more aggressive.

The corbin that's on the 95 came with the bike and it is not a gunfighter model (I didn't look it up yet), as it is molded for carrying two in a fair amount of comfort. I don't care for this one, but still better than stock I suppose. I would rather have the gunfighter model that resembles my 90 versions.

Now I need to come up with a way for a upswept exhaust like chengsr has in the previous posts. I'm gonna try contacting d&d to see if they can fab something for me as I doubt if they have anything that would work off the shelf. Akrapovik is too much money for me, and if I liked it even worse, would have to fit to 'all' the bikes at $895 each. No thx.

In the foreground is the 1990 with a 1040. Finally running good enough for me to go up to the drag strip and see what she'll pull in the 1320 1/4 mile. In the background is my nearly identical stock twin except with a few 95' enhancements.

PS By now you all should tired of looking at 90 fzr1000's. No I did not beat the cruiser off the line. The cruiser got me till at least past the 60ft mark.

Excuses? I have plenty. The only one that counts?

As you see the pics there, I had been up for nearly 30 hours straight. By the time I got home around midnight I was well past 30 hours straight no cat naps in between.

Yes really. I work nights....I woke up Thursday at about 4pm....went work 12 hours....got home....prepared for track day....so the pics were taken around 9pm on a friday. I was too wound up to sleep - getting ready and all.
-John
95 FZR1000
90 FZR1000
Edited by: <A HREF=http://p072.ezboard.com/bexupbrotherhoo ... >jjs777 at: 2/9/05 6:36 am

Don't feel bad John, I used to run a friend with a very stout Buell, He'd just beat me UP in the 60ft. I'd think I was doin really fine to get into the 1.55's and Mario would rip off a 1.42
I'd beat him up on the big end but them Sporty motors are bas ass on the bottom end!!
Jim

Quote:
What did you run John?

That run....lol...12.2 at 122mph. Like I said...very tired. But the best I managed out of that 90 was a 123mph. Driving the same way on my 95...which I also had up at the track that same night I managed a 11.3 at 125.5mph. Lousy still...but I'm 235lbs...so maybe a bit better if someone ala 145lbs ran it.

Tim I have no idea what that guy was running on the track...nor do I know why he was there...except to put added pressure on me. I've got the video....very funny to say the least....with being sleepless and all, I didn;t give it gas till after the 60ft after I got both feet back on the pegs! You can hear me get on the gas. Okay I'll post the video soon on my ftp site just for kicks. Maybe a how-to of what NOT to do.

How tired was I ? surging

Post by jjs777 »

had a surging problem on my 90fzr - only at cruising to P/T -
I also had a noise coming from the chain area so I knew that was gonna get replaced. I was hoping the surging was not carb related and just due to the chain

and it was due to the chain....installed a 520 conversion kit from RK and vortex sprockets purchased from sum of all parts on ebay - decently priced at $129

went with oem sprocket sizes 17/47 since I like my highway cruising 80mph at 5k rpms

<img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v206/ ...

also used a tire lettering pen...figured I'd give it a try

<img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v206/ ...

a note on installing the chain and sprockets - this is the first time I did the front and rear sprocks without removing the lower side fairing - also I have in the past also loosened up the rear brake caliper to aid removal etc and I left that alone too - all I needed to remove was the one chain guard bracket (left the front bolt alone) and rear tire came out fairly easily - saved a bunch of time (maybe yall do it this way....I dunno)

-John <img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v485/ ...
1995 FZR1000
1990 FZR1000
1990 FZR1040
Edited by: <A HREF=http://p072.ezboard.com/bexupbrotherhoo ... >jjs777 at: 6/29/05 1:10 am
