My YB8EI

Post by bimotabob »

Hi

This is my new bike after owning a RG500 for 9 years.
Have spent quite a bit in last few months on general stuff
as last owners were #@#$%!!
In the process of buying diagnostic and remapping equipment for the Weber Marelli FI.
Has a TPS sensor issue but otherwise goes really well.
Some guys have put FCR carbs these furano's.
I plan to dyno it soon to compare with carb EXUP performance as Bimota originally said 164hp and mags I have read say more like 138rwhp.

Has done 26,000km and had 4 owners (imported from UK)

Any chance you're parting it out, I could really use those forks and wheels, JK, sorry, that's my one dink joke for the week.

Always loved the Bimota stuff, very nice indeed.

I would think the 138 measure might have been a stock Rear Wheel number, just a thought?

Gotta get the new siding up on the house.
Fixing the FZ1 up, cleaning up garage and then I might even begin

Magazine Articles

Post by bimotabob »

I checked out that mcreports.com, there were heaps of articles for sure!
He does have a number of Bimota specific articles too but I couldn't find any YB8 or 11 info.

Thanks I'm always on the hunt for any new FZR or Bimota info.

The British mags I have with furano reviews aren't that positive about them.
It's mostly about their original price with the odd dig about the self retracting side stand.
I think there is a lot more Yamaha parts used on the YB8 than people realise - these are the only bits easily obtainable!
The riding position makes my old RG500 feel like it was a comfy sports tourer but
I don't get off it and stink of burnt 2 stroke oil.

Cheers

http://www.bimotausa.com/

It is a Bimota powered by a fuel injected FZR1000 motor.

The company has just recently been resurected and they are now using Duc 992cc motors...

I know there is one the same as mine for sale here in Hamilton.
The guy says it is going cheap - not sure of the price though.
